A considerable improvement over the first game's rather generic story. The addition of Chloe to the main cast was huge, and the villains are a considerable upgrade. That said, there certainly is not enough Sully, and Uncharted games are about gameplay first with a story to supplement. For a gameplay-first game, though? The story is pretty damn good, and there's some good dialogue too

This is a top 5 game for me and the story and characters are a huge part of that. They perfectly made this a cross between a new adventure for Drake and a continuation of the first one. The villains are the best in the series. The relationship between Nate and Elena is fantastic, even compared to the rest of the series. It's got a perfect three-act structure without any dull moments. Everything either furthers the story or the character development. It's got lots of twists and turns, like Elena returning and Chloe's loyalty leaving you guessing until the end. The final cutscene is one of my favorite game endings ever, maybe even my favorite - it's nothing grand or anything but it just nicely wraps up one adventure nicely and leaves you itching for the next one. If I had ONE gripe it would be not enough Sully. But that's it. Honestly I wish that the Uncharted films were following the games' stories just to see this one get a cinematic treatment.

Firstly, the difference between 1 and 2 is night and day. Everything here is tightened up to a polished sheen, especially when it comes to presentation and its confidence in presenting a blockbuster video game storyline. Sure, when you look at it on paper, it might sound generic, but it's the execution of the storyline that makes it work as well as it does, and of course the fact that you're one the playing it. It's extremely character driven, and the introduction of Chloe was a smart choice to act as a romantic interest to Drake who is at his experience level in treasure hunting and as a direct foil to Elena. The writing and dynamics between characters is tightened for max drama & comedy, and filled with the type of banter the MCU films would go to on to heavily popularize. I especially love the language barrier they set up between Nate and Tenzin. The supernatural element in this game also eels a lot more earned. Criticism: Zoran is not a memorable antagonist and though it's not enough to bring the game down detrimentally, it is notable to enough some points off an otherwise well-executed plot.

Agrees with everyone else - this is a big step up from 1. I feel it has some issue though, namely some edgy dialogue that really doesnt work, a few instances of asking you to care about characters who are barely characters, and of course the famed ludonarrative dissonance. Also I got hit by a nasty lip sync bug so that affected my enjoyment of the story. 4 is better. This is still pretty good though.

I guess for Uncharted I really take into account the presentation of the story heavily. 1 was already great at this but 2 just takes everything to the next level. The build up to the final battle is amazing.

Hm... 5.5. It's a much better game than 1 but I'm really not seeing anything special about the story, everybody is a cliche (albeit they are charismatic cliches) and the actual plot is pretty ridiculous and bad imo. Fun setpieces and well-produced but that's about it beyond the gameplay.

Best Uncharted story. Feels like a modern Indiana Jones, as it should.

Only gripe is that it's kinda forgettable. The train sequence and the Chloe parts are the only things I vividly remember. (Played in 2011)

I want to rate this higher based on presentation but the story is kinda...not there. Nathan and Chloe make it consistently entertaining, but most other character interactions are frontloaded or backloaded or don't really go anywhere (yet). Lazarovich is a bad villain and his "ludonarrative dissonance" moment they don't do anything with so it's just a "kinda fucked up huh? anyways," thing. There is a huge stretch of the game post-Tibet village where it feels like nothing is happening and it's just pure gameplay until the ending area. That said, I quite like the opening heist and the other villain, everything up to the train and the village is solid enough, and the game earns its supernatural aspect more than the first one. It's just also nothing too special.

Great game! Just very much spectacle over substance. I think Uncharted 4 blows this one out of the water in terms of plot and character interactions, so I might be too harsh here.
