Im surprised they got someone to look after the dogs when they couldve just left them in the backyard with a kiddie pool full of water and a few old tires to eat and they wouldve been fine.

I would not trust a pitbull. They're big, strong, and have really powerful jaws. It's not like this is a new thing where pitbulls are attacking. It's been like this forever. If I see a golden retriever and a pitbull outside, I'd be weary of the pitbull. Most people would do the same.

Its funny, prior to my attack I'd be right there with the PDF in full clown makeup throwing pies and spraying seltzer around defending the breed.

I remember taking out the trash one night and a pitbull was loose but I only found out as I was at the curb by the growl. Thankfully it was on the other side of the street but I have never been so thankful to still have my car keys on me, I got into my car slow and without taking my eyes off that dog.

Whenever I take trash out now at night I carry my mag light and OC spray. Most times I get the trash to the street before dark now though ever since that happened.

There is only one "Pit Bull" and that is the American Pit Bull Terrier, mostof these dogs that I see around are poorly bred American Bullies or some other Bull breed mix. To most people everything with a muscular build and short fur is a Pit Bull or a Pit mix these days.

There's no such thing as blue nose Pit Bulls. Blue dogs werent used much in the original breeding lines. Blue APBTs can happen, but most of those dogs are either AmStaffs, American Bullies (most likely) or some kind of other bull breed mix.

Dude, all dogs have varying levels of aggression, especially if they were bred to work as personal protection, estate guardians, or hunt. Terriers are animal aggressive because they are used in hunting and vermin control. If you have a Westie then perhaps it's not a good idea to have a pet rat. Most terriers are dog and animal aggressive, a Pit Bull has bulldog AND Terrier ancestry. Breeders couldn't have a Terrier or hunting dog that had no prey drive and didn't want to work, likewise Karl Doberman couldn't have a dog that was overly friendly towards strangers.

Animal and human aggression are different traits. A dog can be animal aggressive but totally friendly towards people, and vice versa.

This is a decent take. You're right, however, should someone choose to keep a dog with issues, they have an added layer o responsibility and must be vigilant at all times.
My EBT is a rescue, I got him at 4. BT's in general have trouble recognizing play vs aggression with other dogs because bullies don't growl, and need to establish trust before wrestling around. I know this, so my dog is *never* left alone outside or off leash, and I keep him away from strange dogs. Once he knows a dog, he's fine.
But my point is, I know my dog's limitations, and the danger involved, so I do everything within my power to make sure he doesn't hurt someone else's dog. Far too many pit owners don't realize that, and so imo they need to go. Same reason people shouldn't own railguns and rocket launchers: most would be responsible and just want a cool danger totem, but then a few would be firing it off in their backyard.

Like I said, Terriers are going to be animal aggressive and likely dog aggressive. Ever heard of a Patterdale Terrier?

Dog vs dog aggression is manageable with training and picking up on cues, and avoiding things like dog parks and keeping your dog leashed.

Mine would pull and jump around at first if he saw another dog, through training I can now get him to sit reasonably still while we let the other dog pass at a safe distance if we're on a walk.
Sadly, being shredded by a shitbull and watching me get shredded (I'm told he actually jumped back in after I separated them and the pit turned on me) for absolutely no reason while on his own territory has set him back a bit.

Dude....this thing snapped it's chain, tore through my fence, and went straight for my dog and immediately latched on to his face.
My dog stood perfectly still and didn't react at all up until it reached and grabbed him. My dog had never seen him before, and he is not a barker.

Walk me through the reasoning for that. The only thing I can figure is it is (was, he dead AF now lmao) extremely territorial and figured my property was part of his yard.

Which circles back to: shit breed + shit owners = shitbull statistics

Tbf, any dog can kill. Thing is, pits are one of the few breeds that don't really do warnings, they are 100% intent on killing whatever it is they've attacked. Labs etc overwhelmingly give "warning" bites (still not cool, but better a bit hand than a torn out throat) or reactive bites (startled, accidentally stepped on etc).

The PDF clings to other dog bite statistics but refuse to factor that in lol.
