I used to carry a knife when I cycled all the time because half the time you encounter a loose dog it's a fucking pit bull. So many careless assholes own them for sake of being cool. I've met plenty of good pits raised by good people, but I absolutely don't trust them. At least not in the way I would trust a golden retriever or collie.. The goodest of good bois.. Even then, all it takes is a careless asshole for Lassie to be an asshole.

Pit bulls are just asshole magnets and dogs that you absolutely don't want to be raised by assholes.

A blade less than 3 inches is legal where I live.

I'm honestly not sure. Even a small blade seems ineffective given how cool you would need to keep to hit a vital. Them fuckers don't seem to give up until they die.

According to the numbers it's not only around 300 over like 13 years. Much higher then other animals for sure but if you add your first point in, it makes sense. As assholes tend to get these dogs and not take care of them like in this story.

It's a terrible fuckin thing that happened to this lady and we all know it was the fuckin owner who had 4 aggressive animals and let someone who doesn't know them house sit. What pisses me off is people have to bring up "herp derp dangerous animal, huck huck" then people have to defend all the other animals that aren't raised by evil owners or neglected. Sometimes I guess they jsut turn wild for whatever reason but that's so fee and far between it doesn't even matter.

What happened to this woman is horrible and those dogs need to be euthanized immediately.

Some of the responses here of users wanting to kill every Pitbull with impunity and making the breed to extinct are appalling. I understand not liking the breed. But thats an extreme position to take.

Theres a societal stigma against these dogs due to the spate of attacks that involve them. I dont believe the breed itself is bad, but the kind of treatment they receive by their owner is a major factor. Terrible people breed and use them for dog fighting due to their natural strength. Its no fault of the dog itself as they cant control how theyre raised.

Yes because they are. Pitbulls are not to be trusted and they can snap at a moment's notice without any apparent provocation regardless of upbringing.

Pitbulls literally are evil. They attack other dogs. Kill wildlife. Attack and eat babies. They turn on their owners. They have no feelings no loyalty no love. They are destruction in animal for. They are an absolute pest and are the absolute worst dog breeds of all time

Pits. Need. To. Go. How many more people and innocent animals need to get injured or pass away until society takes a stand? Ban these evil creatures! They can't keep getting away with this!!!

I used to think the breed of dog didn't matter, but it seems the people who are "anti-pitbull" seem to have better arguments and data for their position this time around. So surely maybe there should be regulation regarding pitbull ownership. At the same time, killing them all shouldn't be an option either. I guess owners should be better informed about the breeds they adopt and the proper ways to handle dogs?

Breed specific legislation is a waste of time, money and resources. It does nothing to address human and dog safety. The American Veterinary Association, ASPCA and CDC say the same thing.

Dog bite related fatalities have always been proportionate to the number of dogs and humans. It is an exceedingly rare event given the sheer number of dogs that are out there in households and in general.

Also, dog attack related incidents related to "Pit Bulls" encompasses multiple breeds and bull breed mixes lumped together under the umbrella term Pit Bull. Everybody knows what a Rottweiler looks like, but if anything sorta resembles what people think a Pit Bull looks like then that's what they label it as. It's like saying that the German Shepard, Dutch Shepard and Belgian Malinois are all the same thing because they are all shepards, when they all look different from each other and have different level of drive. There is only one real Pit Bull, that's the American Pit Bull Terrrier.
