Dude....this thing snapped it's chain, tore through my fence, and went straight for my dog and immediately latched on to his face.
My dog stood perfectly still and didn't react at all up until it reached and grabbed him. My dog had never seen him before, and he is not a barker.

Walk me through the reasoning for that. The only thing I can figure is it is (was, he dead AF now lmao) extremely territorial and figured my property was part of his yard.

Which circles back to: shit breed + shit owners = shitbull statistics

Like I said, some dogs can't stand the sight of another dog and will want to fight, I've handled dogs like that. All dogs are individuals, the degree to which dog v dog, animal or human aggression has varies with each dog. Most people can't handle a dog that is red hot vs. another dog no matter what breed it is.

Um, Pit Bulls are medium sized dogs, German Shepards, Rottweilers and Dobermans are larger and can easily take down a human. A 45lb Pit Bull is not going to be stronger or bite harder than a Rottweiler or German Shepard. There's a reason why German Shepards and Belgian Malinois are often used for military and police work, aside from trainability their bite is very strong.

I just had a dog lie to me twice.

Me: Going on a walk

black lab: fenced in someones front yard

Me, notices the lab noticing me & puts an extra couple of inches between myself & the fence in an attempt to make it clear that Im not interacting with the animal at all. Lab, seems to accept this and starts turning back towards its house.... and at the last second, it aborts the turn & spins around & i meet it dead in the eye with my eyes. All the while Im still walking normally. The dog heeds the warning & turns tail.

about half a minute later it issued a single bark at me, behind my back

another half minute later and it whimpered

However you spin it. The dog was messing with me, in a roundabout way.

When my old dog would mess something up in the house while I was away, she never once pointed it out to me when I got back. She would act suspicious & wait for me to find whatever it was and then she would beg for leniency. There were times she even attempted to hide it. Clear evidence the dog did a #2 and tried to make it disappear, etc.

Wrong, they're easy to train and excel when given a task but ok. They use GSD, Malinois and Rottweilers because they are larger and can more easily stop a human in its tracks. More agile absolutely. Stronger? Absolutely not, there are dozens of breeds that are larger, bite harder and far stronger. I've handled everything from bull breeds to Mastiffs. My old dog was a Cane Corso, at 125 lbs she was far stronger than any Pit Bull that I had or handled. Her bite work was one that could easily crush a person's arm if she wanted to, could feel it through the bite sleeve.

The thing with pit bulls is, even though they're not automatically aggressive it is an objective fact that when they do become aggressive they are much more dangerous than other dogs. Also because they have a reputation for being vicious killers they attract people who want to train them to be vicious killers.

I don't think we need to go around and kill them all, and I know the vast majority of them are fine. But I don't see why we can't just stop breeding purebred pitbulls, and put a screening process for people who want to own pitbulls that makes sure they will raise them responsibly.

There are also far more bull breeds and bull breed mixes in the US than Corsos, Rottweilers, Malinois (most people don't know what a Malinois is), and GSDs.

Not true at all. When I was around 10 I had my window wide open at night since it was a hot summer night. While I was sleeping a stray cat jumped in my room through my open window and started hissing at me. My cat immediately jumped off my bed and attacked the stray cat and kicked it out of my room.

Cats absolutely will try to help their humans if they can.

I'm always careful to not anthropomorphize most animals and attribute feelings of guilt or shame. I mean yeah most dogs are going to avoid punishment or try to do something that will get them a reward, but tricking a person to invite them closer so they can try and bite them?
