stayed in bed and keep trying to sleep till 8, did my body consider that as 8 hours of sleep? because as much as i want to sleep for 8 hours, i just cant do it, i wake up after 5 hours no matter what.

It is very hard to get full amount of uninterrupted sleep. Internet makes it sound like a death sentence because it loves to exxagerate to get visitors.

Remsleep is 2 hour blocks, as long as your not worken from the deeper part of sleep you got your "uninterupted". It was common practice to sleep 4, be awake for an hour, sometimes even go out to party, and then sleep 4.

Even just resting for 8 hours like that helps. It won't keep you alive in the long run, but you probably did get a very little bit of sleep in there.

I have the same problem (even down to sleeping 12-5 last night). I wake up on my own but I'm still tired and yet I can't fall back asleep but I don't wanna get out of bed either. It sucks

I usually sleep at least 8 hours.

I do have to do a few things to make this happen.

No caffeine after 4pm.
I go to bed almost the same time every night.
I always read for about 1/2 hour or more before sleeping - no screen time right before bed.
I wake up about the same time every day.
Having a job and kids that wear you down all day certainly helps as well.

I did this the other day and had to play 36 holes of golf. It definitely caught up with me by 2pm and i was drained the rest of the day. could hardly think

It actually can be uninterrupted. This is a misnomer. However, the 8-hour sleep cycle is largely bullshit, particularly since sleep cycles are around 90-minutes in length so you'd likely be waking up in the *middle* of a sleep cycle if you went for 8. Otherwise it's just another part of magical thinking around the Rule of 8 (8 glasses of water a day, 8 hours of sleep, etc). It's just straight-up nonsense because people are individuals and their needs vary.

i get like 5 to 6 hours of sleep. i can function on that. i tried testing 4 hours but it started to take a toll on me maybe a month or two in.
