Youre right, but there is no better answer in this situation. Hormones are in the drivers seat. If the answer is as simple as not wearing a skirt, then its that simple. Do you really NEED to wear a skirt?

Some things you choose to do in life will come with increased risks whether you like it or not. Thats just how life is.

Yeah, like how kids sexually harassing their classmates comes with the increased risk of being suspended and barred from extra-curricular activities, as well as no use of phones during the school day.

It's super easy to keep the onus on the kids doing the harassing. And if they can't figure out how to overcome their hormones then they can enjoy not going on field-trips, not being on sports teams, not being in clubs, and not going to school dances. Those are things for kids who are capable of being around other people.

Women that have to walk home alone at night shouldn't have to carry mace with them, but it's good advice to tell them to. But if I do tell them that, does that mean that I don't think they can defend themselves because they are women?

I see people in here getting upset about receiving good advice, and I see people in here not understanding what the issue is. I think this is yet another non-issue for some of you to just pass your time with because you have nothing else to do in life.

• Teach everyone to be better people and hope for the best.
• Stop passing off sexual harassment as, "That's what kids will do," and stop labeling them as sexual predators for having natural feelings.
• Focus on individuals and not groups of people

I don't get why people take advice of preventative measures as victim blaming. It's two different things. This seems to be recognizing the problem and providing possible workarounds to prevent people from being victimized to the best of their ability. Unless this comes along with them literally doing nothing to try to find and punish the harassers, then this seems like a nothingburger.

I never understood this either. It's like taking a stance against wearing seatbelts because "people shouldn't be crashing into me".

Better idea: Don't let kids have phones at school at all. Solves the upskirt problem and a bunch of other ones at the same time. Zero fucking reason kids should have phones at school. Have them put their phone in their locker when they get there and have it stay in their until they leave barring an emergency.

This topic really is full of people who wants to be more right.

In reality, both sides are right. It's good both for the victims to prevent it by wearing something under the skirts or not use skirts at all (and give them the right and means to defend themselves), but teach the boys not to harass and punish where needed. They're not wild animals, they can act with respect and decency even though all they want is to see the girls private areas.

There's literally several people saying, roughly, "No way to stop boys from lifting up girls' skirts and taking pictures, girls just need to protect themselves."
It's fine to suggest girls wear skorts to preveny accidental flashes and protect themselves, as a form of defense. It's not fine to say that's the correct response to the matter. The boys need to be held accountable for their actions, the schools and parents need to teach them to stop, and they need to take action to make sure it stops in the future. Girls shouldn't need to wear skorts and to imply otherwise is 100% victim blaming. It's the same logic rapists use to defend their actions and it'sfucking sick.

Kids don't need Smart Phones in school.

My generation grew up without cell phones all the way to High School.

We turned out fine.

And we all need schools of all types and all levels to adopt a Uni-sex School-Uniform policy from nursery school all the way to College.

The Asian Public Education system does this just fine. We need to learn from them.

My idea for a common Uniform Standard is:

• Capri-Style Slacks of varying Tight-ness / Bagginess.
• Capri-Style Long Sleeve shirts / jackets.
• Standardized Inner Shirt and/or Vest/Jacket.
• Emblazon the School Logo onto the outter Jacket/Vest/Shirt

If you don't know what Capri-Style means, it means the length of the pant legs stop half way between the knee and the ankle

Apply the same Capri-Style design to the sleeves where the sleeve stops half way between your elbow and wrist

Here are the items that students can have freedom to choose for accessories:
Students can bring whatever:

• Back pack (of reasonable size relative to their torso with no fancy decoration or art on it)
• Belt (Basic Belt only, nothing too fancy that would attract attention)
• Shoes (Nothing that would be considered "Flashy" or "Attention Grabbing")
• Socks (Basic patterns and colors only, no large logos or images)
• Hat (Taken off during Class Time)
• Outter Jacket (Taken off during Class Time)

Common Rules for all Students:

• No Makeup
• No Piercings on the body
• No Artificial Coloration for their Hair or skin
• No Tatoos
• No fancy Hair Accessories
• The school can come up with a standardized rule of acceptable hair styles
• No Smart Phones or Smart Devices
• Dump Phones allowed for 13+ only (Turned off/silent with no Vibration allowed during class time)
• Basic Watch only
• Basic Scientific or Graphing Calculator only
• Bring your own writing instruments, paper, and notebook

Focus on learning, not on appearances, remove as many distractions as possible.

Teach kids not to touch other kids without permission or do stupid things like "Pantsing" or "Skirt Lifting".

Teach kids to respect another persons personal space and not try to remove other peoples clothing.

That kind of behavior isn't acceptable and should be severely punished.

But it requires backing to make it effective on a National level.

Modern school has too many distractions IMO and too many "Counter Culture" via fashion BS.

It's school, you go there to learn; not to have a fun day at your Social Hang-Out club.

You want to Hang-Out, have fun, socialize.

Do it on your free time out of school or on Recess/Lunch Break/Study Session after school.

When you're in class, your attention is towards the teacher and learning.

Period.

I may have been a Honors Students / AP Student back in the day; but I believe it's the right thing to get kids to focus.

No, I grew up in an era before SmartPhones or even CellPhones were common.

School was better when everybody wasn't connected IMO.

People actually socialized and weren't glued to their devices.

My parents weren't "Tiger Moms".

So I just did my best and managed my grades.

After factoring in Honors & AP, I still had a 4.3x Cumulative GPA out of HS.

Not everybody grew up with "Tiger Parents".

I know that not having SmartPhones at school helps with attention and avoids distractions.

You can use your Smart Phone at home, you don't need it in the class room.

And all the video games I did was after I got my work done.

I didn't game in school, it was all out side of school.

I didn't have that problem, I knew my priorities and got work done first.

All my play time only occured after all Studying / Chores were done.

So I followed the rules and stuck to it.
