CBS has made good on its promise to make its reality shows 50% MINORITIES after they pledged during the pandemic to ensure half of its cast are non-white in a bid to be inclusive.

The spoiler list for the upcoming Survivor Season 41 has been put out and CBS did not joke when they said they would be inclusive as before 3/4 of the cast was white, it appears only 1/4 of this cast is white as the majority is now now a minority cast member with 6 black people being the biggest majority for once as many of the season winners have been white males

CBS said they wanted to make sure that its casts reflects that of a changing america demographic where minorities make up a large portion...

I can only imagine they're willing to change things up because either 1) Their choices were arbitrary to begin with so this doesn't effect the program or 2) The show is dying and they're out of ideas.

Where did you get that percentage? The first numbers I find through Google are all less than 60%.

You're conflating numbers. 60.7% is non-Hispanic whites, 73% is whites and bi-racial whites brings the number over 75%. And your top google result should be a wikipedia entry that pulls from the 2017 US census, which iirc was the last full-released year because the new results aren't out yet.

...actually, you said "under 60%," so I have no idea where that's coming from. Probably future predictions? I know that some leftwing pundits were highlighting that the US will have fallen to somewhere in the 50%+ range in... I can't even remember now, but it's been something they've said for years now and it probably will eventually be the case because whites supposedly average fewer children than other demographics (although I can't remember the difference in birthrates offhand).

I wondered about this. At first it was about getting representation in media to match population demographics. At what point do you get to critisize them for over representing a minority degraphic and excluding the majority from getting their due representation.

The times have definitely changed. I mean, just the Spanish/Hispanic/Latino population alone is projected to be the majority come 2035. Thats not even counting all the other minorities.

Silver lining is that minority chicks love white guys. So dont fight the future, brethren... embrace it.

Hiring people based on race sounds racist to me. They should focus on trying to make good shows instead of being racist.
