I will say I greatly loved WoW but their time gated drops are a massive deal breaker for me. I love games that you can solo and don't really have to join a guild or something.

Can Solo?

Then why does it have to be Massively Multiplayer?

Well I can kinda see it, you want to interact with other players, just not join their party?

I'm going to meme, but it's also just a fantastic game.

Have you heard of the award winning MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV now free up to level 60 including the Heavensward expansion?

The majority of the time I like to do my own thing. So the group aspect is nice but I don't want it to be tied to any progression. Some games I played the last quarter of the game was party up, or don't progress and I hate that.

I can't sadly.
I play two online games (really two games right now), Star Trek Online and Path of Exile. I have been consistently playing these two games for around 9 years now and I wouldn't recommend the MMO here because it's just bad. I really wish someone would just develop a new MMO or MOBA at this point.

The Combat Upgrade was the second worst thing to ever happen to SWG. The worst was the major patch implemented right afterwards that completely killed the game.

SWGEmu is better.

If you want an MMO you can solo The Old Republic is actually pretty good.
Project Gorgon, while early in development is looking solid as fuck too.

Is that PRE Jedi patch? It was a lot cooler when you didn't know if you could even BE a Jedi in the first place

D&D Online isn't too bad to solo if you pick a good character class (Barbarian is the one I use), decent amount of free content as well before you have to pay, and the prices are pretty fair. I haven't played it since Valheim released (February) but it is an older game so other then a few seasonal events there isn't really much happening with it. Still plenty of people online though.

Is not for most people but you could look into Oldschool Runescape. There is a game mode that locks you into doing the majority of the game solo and outside of minigames there is only one piece of content that is generally unreasonable to expect to solo but far from impossible. Those minigames are also populated by randoms so you still dont need a personal friend group or anything.

RS3 also has the ironman mode but i dont know enough to comment on how much is reasonably soloable. Graphics and combat were updated in it and its generally quicker to progress in though.

PSO2 is good fun, as well as being way more action-oriented than most MMO's (more akin to MH or DMC than anything else). Not sure what the current state of content is, since I haven't played since shortly before episode 5 launched back in September-ish, but it lasted me a solid few hundred hours before then.
