I think Mac's are a little more forgiving with the track pad, just by how iOS functions with clicks. I wouldn't say trackpads are not viable, especially if you are just browsing. I kept skipping songs when I had to brush my hair out of my face, or I would change a page unintentionally. I have no doubt they are useful though. I had a coworker who used them on his Mac.
