I'm sure it will, though I was definitely hoping for more initial interest. Right now we are only at 17 different people nominating. My worry is that the less people nominating will mean less traditionally "big" name characters we'll have in the contest. I like to see how those characters fare on a solely Board 8 level. With that being said:

The misunderstanding makes sense. I just meant to say that a double nomination doesn't count as an additional nomination, but rather as additional to the character's nomination tally. I'll find different verbiage if and when there is a next time.

These are good points. I can change the name to something like "Board 8's Best Video Game Character" or something like that going forward. I also did flirt with the idea initially of coming up with a list of characters that were automatically in, but I nixed it because I didn't want to be too subjective with it. If I devoted more time to the idea, I probably could've come up with a decent criteria that I'm happy with. I'm very hesitant to reboot nominations because I don't want to confuse/discourage anybody who has already nominated and moved on. I guess if I could get confirmation from many of the 17 people who've nominated already, I'd be open to it.

I dont think its worth restarting nominations (and Im happy with a bunch of the characters that look like theyll get in), but if you wanted, you could always reserve a few spots for major characters who would seem like an oversight to leave out.

I was wondering the same. Its a great idea and it should be easy enough for everyone to post a few video game characters.

I don't really understand the point of the contest. My first reaction was that, despite being "of the year," it's just a contest for every character imaginable. I see now that it's tied to UotY format, but I never gave a shit about that anyway. So either by initial confusion, by apathy for the format, or by being put off by the scope, there's plenty of reason for users to have just let this topic go by over the last two weeks.

Anyway, because this is supposed to admit top 200 and it looks like you have ~180 with 2+ nominations, I'll offer some supports for the 1's and 2's.
