That's up to their employer. I wouldn't want someone who is publicly racist working for me.

freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of consequences, but the people who need this explained to them are usually the biggest hypocrites and most likely to be intellectually dishonest in discussions.

freedom of speech means your use of this privilege can be criticized by others exercising the same privilege.

Hardly anyone is consistent with that, though.

Take the Kaepernick controversy. He made his views publicly known, many team owners and NFL fans were divided on the issue, and a lot of his supporters were outraged. All of a sudden the consequences part of businesses protecting their brand and revenue somehow werent supposed to apply.

agreeing with a firing isn't a requirement, though. I didn't agree with how the NFL handled the Kap situation the first time around and I haven't watched since. that was a personal choice that I didn't feel the need to preach. the NFL got "woke" suddenly, but I still don't support the NFL. if more people told the NFL to shove it instead of riding both sides of the fence, things may be different. but that's their business. usually people stop supporting businesses that they take some issue with, and that's our Right. another form of freedom of speech.

but they had the right to fire Kap, and people can decide how to voice their thoughts on it. I don't agree with changing up principles just because something you enjoy is on the line. and I didn't even like Kap because I was a Raider fan all my life, lol. but the NFL was wrong, so...

Kap literally turned down jobs. What is with this revisionist history that the NFL ran him out of the league.

He wouldn't agree to take the jobs that were offered to him. And, one team that was about to sign him, his girlfriend called the owner racist right beforehand so they changed their mind. Like, use facts. Kap wasn't run out of the league. There were teams that did not want his distraction and locker room issues, but teams were willing to sign him. He just wasn't good enough for the contract he wanted though. He wanted to be a star and make tens of millions. He was benched for Gabbert or some crap for literally being that bad in SF. He had a meteoric rise and fall in the NFL. You could argue Alex Smith got done dirty for Kap in the first place.

the NFL has the wedgie of the millennium riding the fence so hard. they have no idea where they stand with all of this "go with the flow to people please" nonsense.

the NBA took a stance. the MyPillow took a stance. people can agree or disagree, but they took a stance and I respect transparency. the NFL looks like it's just ran by a bunch of two-faced, Harvey Dent ass cowards with no allegiance to anything but money. that includes the PR, because that ties into finances.

Yeah the NFL definitely paid out on Kaeps lawsuit because he was entirely in the wrong
They paid out to avoid discovery and to stop paying costs associated with the lawsuit.

It reflects on the company, and would you feel safe working with someone who goes on racist tirades?
