18 y/o Emily Rose Grover from Florida was 17 when she was arrested just back in March but turned 18 in April is facing 16 YEARS in the big house after she and her ugly mother are accused of hacking the voting system at her high school just to win HOMECOMING QUEEN!!

Emily is being charged as an adult as well as her 50 y/o mom, Laura Rose Carroll who are charged with a host of felony charges including computer hacking and fraud and could see them imprisoned until 2037 if convicted of all counts

Assistant State Attorney, John Molcahn said "This is not unusual with young people of that age. Juvenile court cannot do anything or supervise them afer they become 18 and it just makes better senses to move them into adult cour there they can be supervised effectively"

Caroll denied the allegations at a hearing in April with her daughter being arraigned on May 14

Laura was an assistant principal at Bellview Elementary School in the same county and used the school's internal system to cause fraudulent votes for Grover by changing votes of students just to win homecoming queen at Tate High School

The student council coordinator was notified that she bragged about using her mom's account to cast votes to her friends and investigators discovered hundreds of votes for the school's homecoming court were flagged as fraudlent.

117 votes for Grover to win were sent from the SAME IP ADDRESS that linked to Caroll's devices. In total, 246 votes all cast for Grover came from Carroll's devices

Multiple students told investigators that Emily was using her mom's system access for years to look at her grades and test scores since freshman year as one said "She looks up all of our group of friends grades and makes comments about how she can find our test scores all the time"

Another said "She did not seem like logging in was a big deal and was very comfortable doing so"

Laura has district level access of the school's programs and was up to date on her annual training on "Staff Responsible Use of Guidelines for Technology" where it contains information about grades, medical history, test scores, attendance, disciplinary actions, personal information, emergency contact, schedules and student id numbers"

They were busted after it was linked to an application called "Election Runner" which students cast their votes for homecoming court

Grover meanwhile was expelled from the school and her title was renounced as her mother tried to contest the expulsion but it was upheld..

2nd runner up, Jihra Smith and 1st runner up Ariyana Wyatt who SHOULD HAVE WON were shocked of the allegations as Jihra said for her the big was moment was even being nominated but that the special moment turned into national headlines of an election scandal was shocking.

As for 18 y/o Ariyana Wyatt who is now the defacto homecoming queen said she doesn't want to be famous in this type of way and she's just ready for normal and to move on from high school and doesn't want people to remember their school this way

Students rumoured that Grover didn't think she could win the election against her "fierce" competitors and rigged the results to get her dream crown win at her final year in high school...

And she would have gotten away with it if not for, erm, her bragging about it to everyone. Yeah, I never understood criminals need to brag about thier crimes, but then again they probably wouldn't be criminals then.

Okay, what if she had sex with an adult at 17 in a state where the AOC was 18 and, by the time the case went to trial, she was 18? Would they dismiss the charges against the adult? No? Well, why should they charge her as an adult for something she did as a minor then? If you're drawing a hardline on a stupid arbitrarily distinction in one place, you need to stick to it in others. It's called fairness. There's NO REASON to charge her as an adult, and the outrageous charges are mostly being leveled to bully her into not going to trial to force her into settling for a smaller amount of prison time for something which, quite honestly, probably shouldn't be prison-worthy anyway. The school district should have just fired the mother and, at most, the mother should be put on a probation of some kind. Maybe put the daughter on a probation, too, or something comparable to what she SHOULD have got from the juvenile court system. However, the argument "well, she's too old to be supervised by the juvenile court system so we're going to toss her in prison for 16 years" is bat shit insane and that DA needs to be recalled then barred from ever holding elected office again.
