That's why they let go of the dead weight in Abby/Ben, and Alex/Vinny were probably ask d to move back to San Fran to keep their jobs, to avoid having to pay for 2 different offices/studios. They all had interesting takes on gaming, different interests, and it was tied together by someone like Jeff who had decades of experience and knowledge to back it up. Couple that with them basically just doing their own thing and having fun with it ended up with some of the best gaming content for a solid half decade there. The era between Jason/Dan getting hired and the brand split is probably a close #2 though. I can't think of many notable pieces of content post brand split. I always enjoyed Game Tapes/Ranking of Fighters, but that was more passive enjoyment rather than legitimate entertainment like Metal Gear Scanlon. Vinny even says it again in the new bombcast! Its why I was a bit wary of some well-intentioned people going well of course it got worse after the split because it is basically validating him. Its funny though, because you used to see people going oh 2008-2009 was the golden age, then it became 2010-2013, 2014-2016, now people are nostalgic for the days of Dan at East and Abby joining. The site has changed but consistently delivered good stuff. So I think that West can adapt and do something fun. I will really miss GBEast though. That sort of value isnt something thats easily to find. While younger viewers sometimes complained that these old guys hate games I always saw it as these industry veterans have been around long enough to see through the BS. More importantly, the familiarity I had with their personalities & tastes meant that even if I disagreed with them about a game or piece of news, I could always trust that they were coming from a place of integrity & authenticity. Again, not something you can easily find elsewhere. They will be sorely missed. (Brad still has his tech pod with Will Smith, I don't think that's going anywhere.) They're all in their early/mid 40s, Vinny has kids, Jeff's got another on the way. Not really the time to go all-in on starting something new.
