After today's Beastcast and watching Jeff's garage stream, I wonder if Red Vultures are getting really involved in the direction of the site and content. I can just picture a bunch of asshole business majors lecturing the team on "engagement" and the need for "more reaction videos". Slowly it's becoming apparant that these no-talent assclowns are trying to turn the site into the type of garbage "content" that pollutes Twitch/Youtube these days, and Alex/Brad/Vinny didn't want any part of it. I feel sorry for Jeff, if you read between the lines, it feels like he's trapped with the sinking ship, either because he wants the stability with 2 young kids, or because there's some contractual obligation.

The next few months should be interesting, but we can safely say Fuck Red Vultures

Think Vinny is just being classy and diplomatic. It's obvious he either doesn't agree with the direction they're taking the site, or they wanted him to move back to SF to save the operational costs of having 2 studios across the country from eachother (which if you think about it, was only a thing to accommodate Vinny who wanted to move back to the east coast, since splitting the crew never made sense)

To be fair its what I enjoy most from them, not because they will go ooo and ahhh but because Jeff, Brad, Vinny, Alex were always very good at breaking down the industry. Even like the half life alyx reveal was a fascinating watch. and of course E3 breakdowns

That was so much fun. I oddly wasn't feeling as bad at the end of it that I did after the Bombcast and Beastcast. I think I'm just exhausted from feeling awful.

It was sad to see how Jeff felt at the end there, though.

Yeah this stream was so fun and full of friendship that it left me feeling pretty good. I was feeling totally devastated after Alexs drum stream yesterday.

Well I picked a great week to actually start being busy enough to not be able to catch any live content

GBE disbanding is a huge loss but I still feel okay about the bombcast if it has Jeff, Jan, Danny and maybe Bakalar on it

Jeff has confirmed on his confirmed that for the immediate future the Bombcast will be Jeff, Jeff, Jan, Jason and Janny, which is a pretty good lineup, so that definitely softens the blow a bit.

Hmmm that does sound like a potentially cool lineup.

I actually wasn't a big fan of the era of the Bombcast where Brad hosted. My favorite part of giant bomb is the silliness, and Brad hosting made the show feel very serious.

I don't think it was his fault--I love Brad and I think he has a good sense of humor, but I think he would ask a lot of questions, and Jeff's instincts were to answer right away, because he knew the answer, and it didn't really leave much room for any jokes, or really much input from the others at all.

If anything, the problem was Jeff being too knowledgable. A good solution to this is making him the host, as it forces him to prompt others to talk, plus, Jeff naturally is very silly when he hosts things (e.g. the aftershow, or whenever he guest-hosted the bombcast), so it ensures the show gets the silly atmosphere.

Of course, maybe they wanted to go for a serious atmosphere, and decided to leave the silliness to the Beastcast, that's fine too--just wasn't my cup of tea.

The silver lining is that the Bombcast is mostly unaffected, as Brad is pretty expendable, and Danny O'Dwyer is amazing. If we are dumping Brad and bringing in Danny full time, sign me the fuck up
