Belzac, the Earth Dragoon, is next. Towering hulk of a man. What has tied him to this world is not knowing that he was dead... that almost all of them were dead. The worst one being Shirley, as he gave his own life, protecting her from the Super Virage, or so he thought.

And finally Kanzas, the Lightning Dragoon. He has a fascination with killing people and he clings to this world because he wants to keep killing. Or at least that is what Rose thinks. Ooof

I really like that segment. Damia is quietly tragic: she barely lived at all before being thrust to the forefront of an apocalyptic war in which she died, and her fellow Dragoons were the only ones who ever made her feel as though she belonged. Syuveil is a resolute philosopher seeking answers to the nature of existence; of life and death. Belzac cannot accept that he sacrificed his life to save Shirley, only for her to die anyway(as we all, inevitably, do). It is only when he is reminded that his life and death meant more than that that he can accept it.
And Kanzas? Men like Kanzas have probably been drawn to the battlefield for as long as we've fought wars. A well-composed psychopath can kill as he pleases on the field of battle, and may even be remembered as a hero for doing what comes naturally. I'm sure he enjoyed his powers to a degree that made the others uncomfortable.

Kanzas, after you beat him, does say he hoped basically that Shirley would give him some sort of respectful end. Redemption of some kind. But he just enjoyed the thrill of the kill

collecting stardust isnt really all that hard.
with a guide you can get them all in like 10 minutes on disk 4 if you decide you want to fight the bonus boss

on the field her design is awful
but in battle her design is great

i love meru to but even as a kid i thought that when out of battle her design looked worse than everyone elses

in battle they use a better character model so it looks much better

I really wish they would progressively change her victory pose to not have her fall on her ass. Like a progressive growth in her abilities. Lol

Ahh, that's right! The back from doesn't look bad, but from the front she looks like...a weird circus lady or something, when she's supposed to be the sexy one. I actually now remember thinking that when I first played the game, too lol.

This fucking grid puzzle in Mayfil. Story time!

When I was a kid when this game came out, I guess maybe I was fifteen or sixteen, I gots to this point in the game I couldn't figure out what the hell I was supposed to do. I stop playing the game for maybe two to three years? At that point I decided to try again and I figured it out right away and then I found out I was within 2 hours of beating the game.

The main fucking thing? Some tiles turn red when hit, or white. White is the BAD one. What fucking game does that? Why would it turn red to indicate move forward?!?!?

Finished it up. I wish they'd have given hints that Melbu Fraham took over Zieg, feels like it comes out of nowhere to justify that Zieg is just a million steps ahead of you all the time.

I really love that image, but did not love Melbu Frahma out of nowhere. Especially since they already pulled the same twist twice. I.E. this person is actually a different person!
Also, I found the final boss really boring and overlong. Literally realized I had run out of items and MP and was just content to never beat the game if I died, but I won.
Oh, and I couldnt figure out Mayfil as a kid either. For some reason, I was convinced you had to somehow balance on the wires.

So my overall thoughts?

The world building is excellent. That being said, you spend most of the game chasing the plot. I mean in terms of the narrative and not as the player. So it makes the heroes feel really unprepared for what is going on and kinda hapless.

The dialog is very stilted. Feels like the English was written by people who don't speak English. It is REALLY BAD at times.

Beyond their own story lines, the other characters feel just kinda there and not essential. Miranda, Kongol, and Haschel especially.

The addition system is still a lot of fun. I don't love that the second last addition you get is really awful before you get your best one.

You outpacing the damage output of your Dragoon which I think is a mistake. Makes this mythical Dragoon hero power seem weak.

This is also a problem in the sense that many enemies are Dragoons when you fight them. This mythical wonderful power seems to just be a power-up. It says the spirit of the Dragoon chooses people, but it kinda just works for anyone.

Lloyd is an excellent character and I wish his machinations were better explained.
