So I went and spoke with a Giant Mushroom who asked me to save Princess Dusk. I said yes. I can now buy shit from the Giant Mushroom. I burnt one of my major souls (not the boss ones) to buy all her magic spells. Just in case.

The Giant Mushroom let me know that Artorias is here, but she fears he will fall to the Darkness of the Abyss.

If she's selling mushrooms they're amazing healing items.

Something keeps like, popping up from underground to attack me in the Royal Garden.

Also, isn't this the place I found the 3 Cats boss, but like... in another space and time or something?

Those Stone Giants are no joke. Also randomly when they do a large vertical smash, something attacks me from below... but also hits the giant?

On my 6th attempt I figured out how to interrupt his "powering up" phase. Got him down to a tenth health. I'm confident I can do this now.

Hug the ledge right in front of you in the cave (dont fall off) watch for ghosts

Dont deviate from that ledge!!!!!! (It drop a few times but you get the gist yes?? Easy)

you will come across alcong stone bridge eventually looks like a fallen pillar

enjoy . Hug the ledge ok

Made it down to the boss. I died, but I might just sit around and farm Humanity from these ghosty goo's

Yeah, I freed Sif. I must be tired because I'm having such a hard time with Manus. I feel like my dodging skills just fucking SUCK against him right now.

I've never had the opportunity to play the DLC, but I heard there's a pendant that helps you with that fight since you can reflect dark attacks when timed right.

also, if you fight Sif after the DLC, it recognizes you before you fight, from what I've seen.

There's a pendant somewhere in the town, I don't recall exactly where. It lets you dodge Manus's dark attacks if you activate it at the right time, and it makes you feel like a total badass if you pull it off.

that rush of a victory, especially after repeated failures, is a huge reason why i love these games so much. i've literally screamed out "FUCK YEAH" and started clapping to myself after victories. it's so fun.

nah man, Manus is hard as fuck.

That endorphin rush hits totally different from every other game I've played (Besides KH2FM Lv. 1 Crit) but it's so nice.

Yeah Manus and The Dragon are the only bosses I haven't beaten in DS1 to date.

Manus is ridic. The pendant is in the town area after the Artorias bonfire.

Is the Pendant something you use instead of a shield? I guess I can equip it as my second shield and just switch to it as needed.

I've never been a fan of that mandatory death.

It's actually not mandatory, but it may as well be. Seath's fog gate is the ONLY one in the ENTIRE game you can walk back out of.

You still have to die so you can get to the other part of the archives.

I suppose you can technically get past it without dying by jumping off the elevator at the right spot, but that doesn't really count.

None. I switched from a more nimble set to a tanking set that could offset his fire damage. Basically war of attrition. I beat him with 0 Flasks and about 1/4 health.

Overall thoughts:

It almost felt like cheating at times when I summoned.

The narrative and plot made no sense quite frankly, but the world building and gameplay was wonderful.

I can totally see why spellcasting is considered easy mode. Beyond a couple instances it seemed range would be easier almost always.

There is a lot of stuff that is not explained in the least. I feel if the game was less obtuse it would be even more enjoyable.

Manus was my hardest boss, followed probably by Artorias and then Gwyn.

This is something I always kind of felt like bringing up, but decided not to so you could play the game the way you wanted. Ornstein and Smough in particular get hit with this, because it trivializes the fight when you can divide their attention.

if you ever play it again, I recommend fighting the secret boss in Anor Londo, if you haven't already

Yeah this! To start you have to kill big busty Gwynevere lady.

Also I may have missed the posts on whether you went there, but theres a secret area where you climb down the inside of a tree and into a lake.

If you do decide to take on the dragon, talk to the giant first for some assistance.

i feel the same way. on my first run of these games i commit to beating every single boss without help. if i need practice, i will let others summon me both for experience against the boss and extra souls. plus, co-op and helping others is cooliol
