I beat Demon's Souls Remastered, and now I'm feeling like just doing my best and getting through the rest.

Playing Dark Souls Remastered on the Switch as I could borrow that from my library. The PS4 version was gone.

Picked Warrior for my starting class and the ring that gives me a tiny boost to HP. A youth told me not to take the Master Key on the first run cause it kinda lets you skip stuff and lore and whatnot?

100% agree the master key is bad for a first playthrough.

Be aware the Tiny Being's Ring on the gift description is... wrong. I think it says it gives health regen, but in actuality it gives you slightly more max HP. Unless they fixed that in the remaster.

They fixed it in the remaster. Just said a bit of HP.

Gave it the old college try against the Asylum Demon. I died. I did the right thing after and ran into the walkway.

I definitely tried to get behind him, no question there. He was slow enough that I could just kinda wait for his attack, give him a shot, and back away.

LOL, no. I am a youth care worker and one of the kids told me. "Youth" is kinda a work term for us. Just a habit.

Beat the Tauraus Demon. Tried it a couple times regular and then used the Gold Pine Resin.

I remember the first time I played Dark Souls I got knocked off the bridge by Taurus and rage quit for the day.

I made it past the dragon (I went under the bridge, assuming there might be a crazy way to do it) and made my way as far as I could until I was out of Estus Flasks and went back to a bonfire like a COWARD!

I have like... 12K souls, enough to buy a miracle or two and level up some. Not gonna risk it.

EDIT - I'm also done for the night. It's 2:10am here.

Assuming I'm not gonna play a magic-heavy build (I tend to go melee), I assume the only miracles I should get would be something for healing or fixing my status.

I'll give one tip because he made me rage quit the game until I restarted it years later. Not a spoiler but it's courtesy to the purists in these topics.

Be careful about accidentally hitting shop vendors.

So far I think I've died around 10 times? Those Black Knights or whatever... oooof. I still am using just a Longsword and Heater Shield. So far it doesn't feel TOO overbearingly difficult. It is tough but fair.

Also don't level resistance. This is another reason I rage quit because I put most of my levels into this stat before finding out it's totally useless (I thought it roughly translated to defense).

if you're lucky enough, after killing a Black Knight, you can get one of their weapons, and it can easily last you until end game (as long as you upgrade it).

and iirc, outside of being strong to be able to use them, they don't scale to your stats too much, so they can suit different builds.

Master key is useless for 1st playthrough cause you dont know where the fuck youre going lol

Personally, i go faith/strength in DS1 because i love my paladin build.

Throwing lightning and smacking people with a mace baby!

If you find or buy duplicates of spells you can equip them to increase the casts.

YMMV but my rule of thumb is not to attack anything that doesn't attack you. There are exceptions in Souls games though.

Yeah, in Demon's Souls there was some guy who rubbed me the wrong way. I released him from a cage and he seemed a little.... ew. So I killed him.

I think it turns out he is an assassin and starts to murder everyone at your base.

Personally I wait until the very end of the game then I go on an NPC genocide just to see what happens or get any possible loot.

Did a bit of grinding to get the Repair Kit and the Bottomless Box from the Undead Burgh's merchant.

Might keep doing it to get the Chain armor he has kicking around, but bed time for me.

Also beat the guy with the big shield and got the Firelink Soul... which I think some dude at the Firelink Shrine needs? He's like in a prison?
