Pixar is all over the place nowadays. For every Coco there's a Brave...is what I used to say, but these last few.... Never heard anyone talk about Soul. Onward was like a mid tier DreamWorks movie, Toy Story 4 was not terrible but shockingly unnecessary, and Incredibles 2 was also fine but a huge dissapointment. The release of their worst movie, Cars 2, with their second worst movie right after, Brave, and their tied for second worst movie just a couple later, The Good Dinosaur, was really a downward spiral they are struggling to recover from. Inside Out feels like luck that it was fine. Coco at this point doesn't look like "Another Pixar hit", it's a shocking return to form from a dying studio. I guess we'll see how Luca goes. --- ... Hot take, Soul was great when it wasn't in the fantasy Soul world. Joe's neighborhood was the best.

Soul is actually pretty good; it's like Inside Out except done right, in that it's an imaginative approach to ethereal concepts.
The ones before that one though: Onward - pretty unimaginative and dull Toy Story 4 - cash grab and retroactively weakens 3 Incredibles 2 - not bad, just disappointing Coco - good not great --- while you slept, the world changed ... Copied to Clipboard!

Coco was great. Parts of Soul were so good that it made me more peeved at the parts that weren't. Other moves lately have been fairly bad/okay/forgettable. The Good Dinosaur was one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever seen. This movie looks pretty good.
