I haven't seen one of those on CE for a bit, so why not?

I'm losing a bit of faith into ECOMI, its hanging in there but its been stuck in a certain price range. >_>

I wished I had invested into Nanocurrency last year since its a practical project.

I have learned however that its always good to see if the project behind the coin actually has a practical use (aka its not a bullshit project because apparently a good chunk of them are).

why matic and grt?

matic:
maybe it's just hype but i'm under the impression that polygon is the gold standard of ethereum sidechains, and will play a major role as a layer-2 solution to ethereum's growing pains / ballooning transaction/gas costs.

grt:
the token of the graph network, which does large scale indexing of smart contract data on the various blockchains it has integrated with, allowing for more resource/cost effective data retrieval and analysis for the entire ecosystem, regardless of chain. primarily used in defi at the moment, helping to power the likes of uniswap and pancakeswap.

doesn't seem to have any major competitors at the moment (save for the avax-based covalent, which has yet to launch on the blockchain, let alone decentralize), has a working product that was in development for 2-3 years prior to launching late last year, is backed by some major players in the space including coinbase ventures, and usage by customers is increasing exponentially - which stakers receive around a 10% cut of with additional rewards from the protocol.

price action is largely market psychology at the moment since queries are very cheap and token eps is very low taking supply and volume into consideration, but if the current growth trajectory holds up, it will become a crown jewel over the next several years.

so, GRT over matic if you had to choose?
i'm mainly looking to buy matic for the sake of exposure, but i'm not nearly as familiar with it than i am with grt, which is around 20% of my portfolio.

i have a hunch that grt's partnership with link could result in developments that give legacy web companies a run for their money in the long term, which is why i want to buy as much of both as possible before the next cycle kicks off.

Sooo... can someone explain to me exactly how this stuff works? Been thinking about getting into it, but I don't know the first thing about it.

What should I look for when buying cryptocurrency? What is the lowest amount I could put into it where it would be worth it? Stuff like that. I'm not too smart so I feel like if I tried to research this all by myself I'd just confuse myself even more.

Dogecoin's popularity is an indicator that crypto and defi is a meme that has been running way too long. Don't get me wrong, blockchain is a cool technology, and proof of work/stake is useful in some degree, but this is not some kind of global gamechanger, it's just decentralized git.

i'll probably leave 1inch and get matic and GRT then...
if you do plan to trade, you should leave at least some exposure unless you lose all faith in an investment's long-term prospects.

in general, i'd probably recommend a dollar cost averaging schedule to accumulate investments rather than trading, though i sold 20% of everything else to buy enough grt to profitably delegate.

what in particular would you like to know?

in a nutshell, bitcoin introduced technology in 2008-2009 for issuance and peer-to-peer payments through use of a distributed and tamper-proof ledger.

ethereum built on this idea starting in 2015ish, also facilitating applications with distributed computation/verification that are developed and executed on top of this distributed ledger technology. it also allows for issuance of non-native tokens in the network to be used by these applications such as erc20s and nfts, leading to the ico bubble of 2017 and the nft bubble of 2021.

an entire ecosystem of applications developed within the ethereum network (esp. after the ico bubble popped). this includes decentralized finance, which is basically crowdfunded financial instruments on the blockchain, as well as prediction markets, oracle networks in development, data/reporting services, etc.

this activity drove the ethereum price so high it became expensive to use, resulting in a large number of competitors, as well as a patchwork of applications aiming to reduce costs through the likes off-chain settlement using the main blockchain for finality. meanwhile, technology is in development to verifiably retrieve data from off-chain for use on-chain, effectively marking the beginning of blockchain attempting to eat parts of the mainstream internet, and whatever other long-term applications this data might have.

all within a trustless, permissionless, transparent / p2p-verified, censorship-resistant context.

What should I look for when buying cryptocurrency?
i personally go for what i believe has strong fundamentals for long-term growth, time-tested technology and/or a strong team of developers and backers, ideally has first-mover advantage, strong network effects, a deep moat, and has potential to help the entire ecosystem grow.

it's especially important to do your own research during bull cycles, since everyone and their grandmother is trying to cash in on cyclical booms with projects and schemes that are often lacking in functionality, fundamentals, or are otherwise redundant, never mind a sharp increase in scam activities.

What is the lowest amount I could put into it where it would be worth it?
when in doubt, dollar cost average on a monthly, biweekly, or weekly basis a dollar amount that isn't too taxing for your financial situation. best time to accumulate is during bear markets, but you can still get away with it for established projects during bear markets, during which more aggressive moves on early projects with strong fundamentals may not be a bad idea (but is necessarily far more risky in the long term).

dogecoin is a joke that really went too far, and running on dated technology, it is not representative of the state of the ecosystem and what's going on in it, especially at this point in time.

He's seen me post on the MAGA board before (I have) and thus assumes I'm far right, and a bad person (I am not, though I'm probably somewhat more right leaning than lots of people here).

However, at its peak, the MAGA board became very popular and there were a lot more left leaning people there than right leaning people and I certainly wouldn't claim them to be far right or bad people merely for posting there or anywhere else.

In any case, there are no political channels in my discord because I'd like its primary purpose to be a haven for financial discussion and not for hating on each other.

With that said, I invite anyone to be a member and to get to know me, some of you might be surprised to learn I'm a lot less of a caricature, and a lot less right leaning than some of you might have been lead to believe.
