It was not too long ago that spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, cloves, even plain old pepper, were incredibly expensive and had to be brought by ship, horse, or camel, on dangerous journeys that took months or even years.

Now every cook in America has a king's ransom in spices in their cupboard and nobody blinks an eye about it.

I don't understand what is going on here tbh. You're shocked it is bark, I ask what you thought the picture of it was because many cinnamon containers show the rolled up thing which doesn't look like anything but curly bark. You call it a stick and are now trying to argue a stick isn't wood.
