He has some pretty fascinating lectures even though his interpretation of Jung is a bit off, it's more hilarious how much hate this guy gets for saying almost nothing in the most verbose manner imaginable. "Academically whitewashing their ideals" is jibberish to me, you're gonna have to explain that one. Also not really a fan of his political stuff so I don't really know much beyond like the Kathy Newman interview the Sam Harris stuff but his lectures and self help books are not some kinda alt right indoctrination they're mostly just entertaining fluff with no clear political slant. So what, he doesn't like the infinite gender "biological sex isn't real" types, most people don't at this moment in history don't agree with those ideas either and that's okay, these things take time and all these new ideas are in such a primitive state the majority of the information justifying it is nearly incommunicable to the average person since the language chosen for a lot of these theories is intentionally provocative (arguably outright divisive at times). Being against the current mess of things emerging from your local gender studies laboratory isn't a right wing thing, it isn't a nazi thing, it's not political at all in fact, it's a failure of communication due to an intententionally created language barrier intended to amplify the illusion of "the enemy" (see: anything Robin DiAngelo has ever done or said).

All that being said, I really don't like Kermit that much I just like to argue against zealotry. My recommendation to all is to just subscribe to Vaush if you want to hear something politically reasonable, watch weird psychology professors rant for hours about chaos and shit when you're high on mescaline or something

He is just a lecturer type, he just likes to sprinkle right-wing ideas into the things he spouts, routinely organizes things in such a vague way you can take basically any conclusion from it (so when people take the far-right ideas from his lectures, he cans stay out of trouble by saying "haha that's not what I meant", and primarily preaches to lonely young men who are most likely to get indoctrinated into far-right wing ideologies.

tbf, its because he was dealing with a drug addiction while preaching that all your problems in life can be solved by just taking account of your own life (ie. he wasn't practicing what he was preaching) and was so unwilling to take account of his own life that he decided he was better than the concept of Western medicine and fled to Russia who were willing to undergo a crazy dangerous procedure so that JP wouldn't need to deal with withdrawal like everyone else.

In one part, its because it proved JP was a raging hypocrite, and the other part is that its basically a miracle that Peterson didn't come out of his stupid decisions with brain damage.

He wasn't preaching that. He was saying there was a lot to be gained from a sense of self-respect and personal responsibility. But that guy has so much damn compassion it's insane.

It's damn near killing him to keep doing what he does, but he says he feels obligated to because of how many people have come up to him and said his little bit of compassion and encouragement helped them turn their life around.

Everybody who hates on him is ignorant or just heartless.

One of his defenders once told me I couldn't comment on his philosophy until I'd watched his lecture series on the Bible, which is literally 50+ hours long.

I think he's a great mind and a lot of his insight and advice are good. The only thing I don't gel with is the method in which he delivers his stuff. I think most people know they need to clean their room, generally people who do not clean their room do it because they are avoiding the message of cleaning their room. Telling 'boys' to man up just makes them want to run away, since that's how they internally responding to the notion of manning up.

It's like telling a fat person "just drop the fork and start walking". It is the right advice, but I think some people might benefit from understanding their relation with food and working from there, rather than try to force discipline. If you force discipline without the proper infrastructure, it all comes crumbling at any point of failure.

Some people smoke because the burden of not smoking is so stressful that they'd rather smoke to avoid that stress. Telling someone "don't smoke it's bad for you" might make them smoke because they know it's bad for them and they get stressed, so they smoke.
