It's existed as a term in the humanities in colleges for years, so for a college professor in the psychology department to have never heard of such a term doesn't really make a lot of sense.

just because Coates used Peterson as an inspiration for Red Skull, it doesn't necessarily mean that he believes that he's a "hateful back nazi supervillain"

it could also mean that he noticed the effect Peterson's writings, persona, etc. has had on some of the extreme/alt-right (not to say that Peterson has to be extreme/alt-right), which is true, because it's more nuanced than "Heil Hitler" these days.

plus, it's a comic book, so there's also a lack of nuance, where things are exaggerated to make for a more interesting story.

It's pretty common to refer to people by their first names, the only reason I've been saying Coates and not Ta-Nehisi is because I'd have to google it each time so as to not accidentally misspell it and likely trigger some people here.
