It was the Sonic Fandom of websites.

I'm not really familiar with Cracked.com but I know a few of their writers have written some fantastic books.

David Wong's John Dies at the End trilogy and The Zoey books are really good.

Robert Brockway's Vicious Circuit trilogy is great too.

It's such a shame that they went from being one of the funniest online publications on the internet in the mid 00s, to a really bland generalized variety op-ed site.

No fucking wonder they went under. At their peak, their articles were like "The Top 7 Badass Presidents Who Could Totally Kick A Bear's Ass", and then by the end, it was shit like "5 Reasons We Should Be Paying More Attention To Teachers' Unions in Rural America"

Usually this would be some stupid bullshit, but this actually did happen to Cracked.

I wonder how much of it is to blame on that one writer who just constantly wrote articles about him being poor when he was a kid.

John Cheese was actually funny, though. I see a lot of people pin Cracked's fall on him but I found his articles a refreshing mix of personal insight and humor (maybe he overrelied on wrestling jokes a little lol).

In my eyes, Adam Tod Brown is the real face of the fall. Thats the guy who wrote "X ways Trump's campaign mirrors Hitler's rise to power," among other gems.

Yes-ish. Cracked was bought out and had a three issue relaunch as a Maxim clone. Cracked.com was the website for the relaunch and was in turn bought out when the magazine ceased publishing.

Yeah, this article is great. They had a lot of good stuff pre-2013. I'd go to the site every day until 2013/14 when everything became about politics and tabloids instead of actual humor.

I remember back in the day I found the below super funny. Kind of like a predecessor to the movie pitches that are the only good part of screenrant.

I used to read their articles all the time. Then they became really dull and preachy and most of the good writers left. Now they seem mostly reliant on the fan submission articles that attract worse takes than CE most of the time.

Their Facebook posts pop up on my timeline occasionally usually with five or six year old articles or cringe memes.

It went to shit when Soren left to work on American Dad, and they fired all the rest of the good writers at the same time. DOB and Swain were great (as were their videos), Seanbaby's comics were fantastic (and his time playing The Sims is still my favourite thing to ever be on Cracked).

Now it's like an even shittier version of BuzzFeed, with crap picto-articles. "15 Facts You Didn't Know About WandaVision! #1 Wanda may look familiar - that's because she's also been in the Avengers movies!"

He and J. F. Sargent were the two worst writers on the entire site around the time I stopped browsing the site around summer 2014.

John was super annoying. Seemed like every other week he wrote an article titled "5 hidden ways how being poor sucked and if you never experienced it you can't possibly understand so shut your mouth."

Yeah, I liked their content. Interesting stuff to read about delivered in a fun and easily digestible way. I loved their show After Hours with the original crew.

My favorite article was one of the guys watched a poorly translated version of the raid and it was hilarious. He never wanted to know what it truly was about.
