I don't understand. I always have to let it cool to room temp, and that usually results in it tasting dull. I don't get how people can eat piping hot food either it's insane. ex used to eat those steaming sizzling restaurant fajitas right out of the kitchen and not flinch. My coworker starts gulping coffee the minute it's poured.

I can't enjoy it unless it's really hot.

I get usually finished with my cup while others are at the 2nd or 3rd sip.

i sip it slowly and take larger drinks the more it cools.

its one of those things where the more you do it the easier it gets b/c you kill the nerve endings in your mouth over time

My mom is like that, especially with food right out of the oven or microwave. I don't understand it, either. If I did that shit, my tongue/roof of my mouth would hurt for a few days.

Right, like my mouth would literally turn bright red and it would hurt to eat or drink anything for a while

It's basically giving your mouth minor burns until eventually you get so used to it that you can't even tell you're burning yourself any more.

I remember years ago they did a study which showed that long-time coffee drinkers have less taste buds than non-coffee drinkers. They literally burn off their taste buds.

Its just tolerance, when I worked in a restaurant for years I could literally reach into the fryer to grab a lose fry and throw it in the trash.

Shit would give me blisters for days if I tried that now.

Well I'm off coffee now. I could drink tea cold but it tastes so much worse that way unless it's one of those sugary iced teas

i take small sips when it's pippin hot and bigger draws the cooler it gets.

cold/lukewarm coffee is icky so goal to drink it before then

About the only hot drink I actually enjoy is Apple cider. And even then, it has to be at least 20 degrees outside before I'll want to have any.
