These are the ones who didn't go out in a blaze of glory or sacrificing themselves to save others. Didn't even get to die in a bed surrounded by loved ones. These are the ones who just died a shitty death despite being important enough to be a protagonist of a story.

Note that the character does not necessarily have to be the protagonist of the story they died in if they were a protagonist in a previous entry (or prequel released later).

Victor Vance was fleshed out in Vice City Stories. But in Vice City he was some chubby dude who just dies in a drug deal gone bad at the beginning of the game.

Johnny is the playable character in The Lost and Damned. He gets beaten to death as a punchline by Trevor in GTAV. Funny if you didn't play the DLC. Sad if you did.

He (and his whole freaking family for that matter) was just begging to be executed while everyone around them tell them what terrible, terrible decisions they're making.

Luke did suck. But his character in that scene was fine. Just Galactic Skype call and illusion no jutsu is a pretty weak ass climax. Couldve been better if the intensity of those powers was shown better than a throwaway line. Guy just goes adios at the end and its like...wait. Why the fuck did he die lol.

But they at least had the dignity to die on screen. Cant say the same for the cast of Chrono Trigger lmao

Idk that I'd call him a coward, in fairness he didn't exactly have a great experience with the Force. After getting the full story of Vader, then Kylo murdering his trainees for basically no reason , I can't really blame him for thinking the Jedi should remain dead and that teaching the ways of the Force can go disastrously wrong and therefore shouldn't be taught (and he got to two corrupted Jedi in his lifetime who caused untold suffering).

Jan-Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine, at the beginning of that last season of Airwolf.

Been watching 24 lately, and in season five, Tony is about to kill some dude with some type of medical overdose, but instead, the dude on the gurney wakes up, flex his strength, and injects it into Tony instead. I think it induces a heart attack or something in a really pitiful, anticlimactic manner. Easily one of the crappiest deaths I've seen in awhile and not what you'd expect from a protag.

Sigurd from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. His campaign starts out innocently enough: counter-invading an invading army to rescue a friend. Through a combination of poor decision making via getting involved in conflicts that have nothing to do with him (and also harboring the Prince of the kingdom that his kingdom happens to be at war with, that probably didn't help) and being manipulated by the antagonists, his campaign kind of snowballs into accidentally conquering the entire continent, which is exactly what the primary antagonists were counting on because they wanted to falsely brand him as a traitor so they could swoop in and control the continent that he conquered, and Sigurd and most of his army are executed for treason with the few survivors either dying their own undignified deaths offscreen/going MIA or being forced into hiding. Kind of a raw deal all around, really.

This all pretty much completely undermines the OT trilogy and all the OT characters accomplishments though for essentially a repeat of ep6.

Hell Im barely hyped for things like the kenobi series because the dude wasted his entire life looking after, training, and believing in not just 1, but 2 failed chosen ones.

Eh Luke was more like another Obi-Wan than another Anakin.

I don't think he counts anyway. Regardless of how you feel about it he dies saving the Resistance, Nothing about his death is undignified.

This is easily the worst take on TLJ ever. Its like Ralph Wiggum, Millhouse and Comic Book Guy fused into one entity and were personified by a YouTube comment. Its kinda brilliant really.
