DKC2 was clearly targeted out in the morning and 64 appeared to be kept on top so I'd imagine today's not finished

there are definitely multiple stuffers and it's inconsistent which ones are active on any given poll series

I think the Xeno poll I joined in semis when it seemed one stuffer was aiming for a Gears vs XB2 final sniping out XB1 (same way someone was sniping DKC2 last topic), and they settled for Gears-XB1 at probably around 40 votes given to each.

Finals I think had the same stuffer going all in for Gears then and they finally surrendered at the 160 gears total mark... so maybe in the low 100s were their own? Going off memory I think I put in 135 of my own stopping the XB1 total at 200

IP restrictions are trivial to get around, it might ironically just make the stuffing become more exclusive with less people bothering to go through the loophole

Hard to judge though - being more time consuming vs having more competition forcing you to use more accounts. I watched the Gears stuffer spend 2 hours practically dumping one vote every 40-50 second (while obviously doomed and failing to ever take the lead) so I don't think time is their concern as much as their account limit.

actually to be fair I should be more accurate and say 1.5 hours - I believe I started watching 12:30 and had to go to the dentist a bit past 2, and about 2 is when the Gears stuffer stopped IIRC

I also quite like DK64 but am pretty badly blinded by nostalgia, most likely. That said, it doesn't belong over a single Country game to be sure.

Here's a hot take: Banjo-Tooie is more tedious and arguably a worse collectathon than DK64. Yeah, DK64 has more collectibles, but Toole has worse tasks for them. Like half the missions in that game are literally walking from point A to point B and back to point A either to unlock something that links the levels together or...god forbid, the transformation jiggies. Find Mumbo to transform, walk all the way to the spot to use the transformation's ability, walk all the way back to Mumbo to exit the transformation, walk back to the spot that you used the ability to get the jiggie. All of this with nothing remotely exciting to do on these treks back and forth.

It's...some of the most uncompelling gameplay I've ever experienced and it deserves to be called out. Shame, because the original Banjo-Kazooie is a masterpiece with none of this filler.

Not exclusively, it's not a usermap thing where accounts get linked together. All you need is an account per vote which... the same scenario as no IP restriction.

I just tested again myself on a private board to make sure this is still the case. Voted, switched alt, voted, got IP blocked, renewed IP, voted again, success.

DK64 is a great game, I love its collectathon aspect.

The only really bad thing are the minigames/bonus rooms, but that's also the case for every DKC game as well.

Nah the bonus games in DKC games are usually pretty good or at least inoffensive. They are also distinctily separate from the main game. The minigames in DK64 are required for Golden Bananas, the main collectable. It's not like you can even anticipate where they are because they're just placed in lieu of giving you a Banana straight up.

I love collect-a-thons which are fun to play. Had a ton of fun with the Spyro trilogy, Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64 (although I do think this one is the most overrated Mario game). Banjo-Tooie took things too far with being big for the sake of being big. DKC64 was the father of that concept that quickly and thankfully ended with Tooie. That said Tooie was much better made and more entertaining despite it's huge faults (pun intended), DK64 is the very definition of a black hole of entertainment. I'd rather collect rocks in a jungle than ever play that game again.
