My high school Business Department teacher would complain for an extended amount of time whenever a student would use that term. I think people started doing it just to annoy him into pontificating for a good portion of the class so they didnt have to work with Microsoft Word.

My favorite though was when students who got caught looking at porn used that response when he asked them about it. He got so mad.

While nothing jumps to mind, I have to go with other because -- with the exception of "could care less" instead of "couldn't care less" -- I'm not sure any is particularly common as a mistake.

I guess it's vs its is on the table, as is who's vs whose.

You use i.e. when you want to provide more information, a definition, or clarification, and you use e.g. when you want to provide examples.

Before every textbox did automatic spellcheck I used to write "alot" instead of "a lot". Apparently this is a common mistake.

I dont think thats so much a mistake as it is just the way that many couples view things. The woman is the one that is technically pregnant of course but they are both having a child and sometimes the guy in the relationship wants to provide solidarity and show that he is there for his partner.

Claiming to understand irony while giving examples that demonstrate one doesn't is itself ironic. Or maybe it isn't. I've come to expect that people don't understand what irony is. So maybe getting it right would be contrary to expectation.

Double negatives use to be a speaking convention used for emphasis. The increase in people learning additional languages, prevalence of legal contracts, and the writing of programs have resulted in greater importance on being precise in one's meaning.

Is it "use to" or "used to"?
"Of" in place of "have". Could of - could have. People say it fast so it sounds like "of" but it's meant to be past tense.
