I am 36 and this feels somewhat true.

I feel like I have more in common with genx people than younger millennial. But the latter doesn't mock stuff we like as much.

Yeah, switch the millennial groups. I'm 31 and I absolutely don't care about the generation wars. The only time I jump in is when I correct people that call Gen Z millennials.

On the internet: 75% true, the under 30 should be in the fray as well.

Im an early 30s millenial and I find Gen z fascinating. Im always interesting in seeing the evolution of trends and culture.

generational conflicts are kinda dumb in general. Theres plenty to bitch about towards every generation. Even boomers arent all that bad. Met plenty of cool old heads. The generation just gets a bad rap because of the association with far-right politics. But plenty of millenials and gen z are keeping alt-right alive. Just look at Shapiros audience lmao

Early thirties millennial here, don't give a shit about any "war" with Gen Z nor have a problem with them as a whole. I think both gens should be friendly with each other. We aren't that different.

Millennials is way too big of a group anyway. Your life and worldview are completely different if you went to elementary school in the mid 80s vs the late 90s, yet both groups are millennials.

I'd say Gen Z does bring up some legitimate concerns and issues but a lot of that gets drowned out by meaningless drama and social media noise etc.

Know the truth, facts, stick to your own moral compass and opinions and don't pay attention to all of the excessive nonsense.

Yep. I would argue that pre-90s millenials are just a phase inbetween GenX and Millenials. My sister and BIL were from that group and we're nothing alike at all generationally speaking other than having had computers be pretty normal as kids.

As to the meme, I agree with that assessment, though Id be inclined to hop in to GenZs benefit. I tend to relate more with and get along more with GenZ people than I do with people my own age.

You would be completely wrong then. The term Millenial was created as a name for those who would be coming of age at the turn of the Millennium, aka those born in the 80s.

Thats not how generations are defined..

Things like this that you mentioned are true of most generations. Among other things, young boomers don't remember a time when black folks had different bathrooms and such. I'd argue that shift is more noticeable than cell phones being common.

And in common usage, millenial does not accurately describe people born in the early to mid 80s. Late 80s millenials are closer to the common usage, but even so. People who are typically called Millenials largely come from the 90s.

As i said, world of difference between me and my sister and her husband generationally speaking, and we're 10 years apart.

And its not a scientific law where I cant give an opinion on how certain groups should be classified. I dont see most people born in the 80s as being similar enough to me or my peers for that matter to consider them as part of my generation.

It is. A lot of people on CE though just like to make up their own definitions to words to suit their arguement and then act like you are in the wrong for actually understanding the language.
