did anyone follow this?

initial thought is that i really don't like the new art. highly prefer the rougher 90s look.

i'd previously seen the brolly movie so i know about some of the transformations that are coming, but i don't know many plot details.

a few continuity q's:

1. is the 10 years later ending to dbz still canon?

2. is there anywhere to watch (legally) son goku returns and resurrection of F? are those canon in super? never seen them.

presumably yes, though super doesnt get to that point

the animation is a little rough in the first few arcs (which retell battle of the gods and resurrection f, so you dont necessarily need to see the movies), but it does get better

Theres nothing that directly contradicts it, but it just doesnt feel like it fits any more after the events of Super.

Super is fun but you're probably better off just watching the Beerus and Return of F movies instead of watching the Super arcs. The anime is more fleshed out but it's not necessarily better than the movies for those arcs.

Everything after Return of F is new in Super though

Super loves to pay homage to what came before it. That and some of the worldbuilding the new characters bring is a welcome addition to the standard formula.

The animation was certainly a little awkward early on, I think it was episode 4 or so that had some abominable screencaps floating around (although iirc blu-ray releases fixed the animation?). It does get better, and your enjoyment of the show will probably come down to how much nostalgia you have for DBZ and how much you like Beerus and Whis.

I'm not a fan of Super's actual arcs like... at all.... but its transition period episodes are fun stuff!

The animation gets a LOT better as it goes on. The last arc looks particularly great.

The early animation of db super is not good, it gets better as you get further in. The poor early quality is practically a meme.

I will highly recommend you watch the Battle of Gods and Resurrection of F movies and just skip all of the episodes they cover with maybe the exception of episode 15 which is a particularly fun filler episode. The overall quality of the show is easily at its worst when it's just covering the movies and it doesn't really add anything that makes it worth your time.

Super's art doesn't get good until the final arc sadly

and yeah the two movies can replace the first 26 episodes or so.

I don't think Super's art style ever looks particularly good. The animation improves by a lot, but the color tone and character designs don't.
