It's amazing to see the propaganda efforts take hold in real time. They managed to channel culture war anti-green energy sentiments into a smokescreen for the wholesale failure of conservative infrastructure management and the oil and gas industry.

It's impressively evil.

Because they desperately need to defend natural gas since they just ran a campaign on how plentiful natural gas is. Texas is getting all the attention but the entire Midwest to Southwest is also facing rolling blackouts because natural gas wells are frozen across the country.

It is, but that doesn't do a hell of a lot of good when your well-heads are frozen.

Nuclear power is the way to go. Fossil fuel and wind farms have too many downsides. Geothermal and hydroelectric are cool tho. Wish they were more widely available.

I would argue that Hydroelectric on the sort of scale we'd need isn't good for the environment. You can't just dam up a bunch of rivers and expect that not to have negative local consequences.

There are companies utilizing the motion from Ocean waves to generate energy. Much more sustainable than damming rivers.

I can barely recall hearing about that sort of thing back when I was a kid. But I'll remind you that you have to convince society that you don't mean "dam up the rivers and ruin your sportsmans areas and destroy nature, and grandma is gonna lose her home in part of the flooded area". And as a general rule, society is fucking stupid.

Hydro electric plants also have some downsides.
