Yep! Totally agree with everything said here. I'm an 8-lover myself, but it's hard to deny that it kinda makes 7 less-watchable. And 9 did the same thing to 8.

Still bizarre to me that they didn't have a planned trilogy-spanning story from the start.

I don't think I've ever been more bored watching a movie than I was during TLJ, other than maybe Justice League. I has some cool moments and I can at least laugh at how bad most of II is.

People say this and it's technically true, but honestly I think the foundation that 7 laid wasn't very good outside of Kylo Ren as a unique antagonist (which 9 torpedoed). Like, they stuck Luke on a planet alone for years, and people got mad that the answer TLJ gave was "I want to be here now leave me alone" but what was the answer actually supposed to be? He got lost on the way to the supermarket?

Episode 1 and 2 were amazing for expanding the universe and lore and for allowing good spinoffs to be created, but the actual movies fucking suck

fiancee didn't really care for episode 7 (which i still love) so we skipped episode 8. i remembered liking many parts of it, though disliking the action on the resistance ship.

while I'm not a fan of TLJ and I know people try to say it didn't leave much for Rise to go with... but i mean TFA already was a terrible starting grounds that reset the franchise and set up a buncha dumb repeat plots to begin with so I wouldn't point the blame on 8 for that, even if I ultimately enjoyed 7 as a movie more

7 > 8 > 9 but part of that is probably because i care less and less about the trilogy as it goes on

Literally every aspect of episode 9 is an "apology" for episode 8 and in some way meant to erase that it happened, because a bunch of whiny fanboys were pissed about it.

That's why the first hour of 9 is such a rush jumbled mess, it's straight up a fake replacement episode 8 they made up in half the run time to tack on the front. Actual episode 9 is everything after the first hour.

It's just funny because with the music and scene it's supposed to be this huge revelation but there's something so stupid about using "You're a Palpatine" as an expression. Because it's not like there's been a ton of important Palpatines in the SW universe, or that Palpatine himself descended from a long line of powerful force users. It's not like the Skywalkers where there's at least been several important ones.

It's as effective as saying "You're a Fisto" or "You're a Windu."

Honestly the sequel trilogy made me realize that I kind of don't like Star Wars apparently. I thought I was a fan, but like so much of it is just plain awful.

The only things I really like that Star Wars actually made itself (so not counting the fun fandom stuff) are the first two movies, Star Tours, and now The Mandalorian. Why is so much of this series so poorly done?
