Last AC game I finished was Black Flag, and I'm wondering how much different these are and which would be better to play?

I like the Egypt setting of Origins, but Odyssey does seem to have a lot more.

I got odyssey when I was trying to decide, but mostly because I liked the setting more.

Origins is more serious and in line with the typical AC series so that gives it the better story but Odyssey is so much more fun.

Odyssey if you have to pick one. You'd probably get burnout if you try to play them consecutively.

I heard the newer AC games shelves stealth for more combat, is that true? Would origins have more stealth?

I preferred Origins more. It's a simpler game.

Odyssey may have alot more to do, but if you don't get with the RPG mechanics of it you'll really feel like you're constantly under the boot. Especially when it comes to deciding to upgrade weapons/armor or craft new ones. Weapon/Armor levels are important, and higher level weapons/armor will require quite a bit work even if you're looting everything everywhere you go(also try not to upgrade something unless you really like it, and even then every 10 lvls is usually fine). They did patch it to make it a little easier, but if you push to level 100+(preferably with dlc) you will notice how insane the system is in that regard. Main game should put you around lvl 50 by the end, and some of the bosses will really test you. Unless you're a Dark Souls fan then this game might be a cake walk. Personally I found it a slog more often then not(specifically when dealing with the Cult), and enjoyed the DLC more then the main game.

I didn't realize how important the gear system actually was until I had to finally google why I was doing chip damage on damage sponge enemies.

I do like fashion souls more than caring about stats especially if it's a single player game, does origins have cool outfits?

Do they have any worthwhile dlc?

I just started Origins a few weeks ago. I haven't played Odyssey.

I'm liking Origins a lot. I like the Egyptian setting a lot. And I like the writing. Bayek is well written.

Yes, and at least one goofy one. Since you can get a Choco-camel(A camel cosplaying as a Chocabo from Final Fantasy that is part of an FFV/AC minicrossover event. Even has a nice sword and shield.). There is fair amount of variety from stuff that looks tribal, to religious armor that has animal helmet, but one of the best armors to my knowledge is no longer available since you can't do the Trial of the Gods weekly event anymore. The servers got shutdown.

DLC for Origins
Curse of the Pharoahs was pretty fun. Though the thing they replace mercenaries with can be challenging early on. I especially loved fighting giant scorpions in tall grass.
DLC for Odyssey
I enjoyed the Atlantis Trilogy. Episode 1 and 3 more then 2. Though all of them let you play around Greek Heroes and Gods. Legacy of the First Blade felt like an odd addendum to the lore.

Odyssey really is AC in name only. But if you want a game where you roll around ancient Greece as a super-powered mercenary, it is for you. The game does not take itself seriously so I would advise you do the same.

Origins has the better story.
Odyssey has better combat and bigger map.

Never played the Origins DLC, but Odysseys was fun. First was ok, Atlantis trilogy was better, especially as a Greek myth nerd.

I preferred Odyssey mainly because of that reason, but Origins wasnt bad. Just not the biggest ancient Egyptian nerd tbh.

You can't beat Greece as a setting. I could almost smell the sea air sitting up on hills in that game. I just finished Valhalla and the whole thing made me feel empty in comparison.

I absolutely loved Origins - got the plat, 100%'d all DLCs (even the educational one - that's surprisingly great), sunk in over 100 hours.

I have yet to finish Odyssey, though - the gameplay is still good, and the story is brilliant, but it just feels too... big. The map is ridiculously huge, and while that's a great feat on a technical level U actually think the game would be improved if it were a bit smaller.

odyssey sounds like your game, to answer your stealth question, it has more than origins.

Both are good but Odyssey is better. Greece is way more varied and interesting that endless desert, and the combat system is much improved.

You're smoking crack if you think Odyssey is more stealth than Origins. You literally can't hide in a haystack anymore in Odyssey.

Origins has a more focused plot. Odyssey is, in my opinion, the more fun game. They finally made an AC game where the combat isn't a slog, and the loop of getting new loot and abilities is really addictive.

I played about 25 hours of Origins before falling off, but I did come back to finish it. I played 120 hours of Odyssey.

This is one reason why I chose Origins over Odyssey.

Also, I feel most open world games are too big.
