Odyssey may have alot more to do, but if you don't get with the RPG mechanics of it you'll really feel like you're constantly under the boot. Especially when it comes to deciding to upgrade weapons/armor or craft new ones. Weapon/Armor levels are important, and higher level weapons/armor will require quite a bit work even if you're looting everything everywhere you go(also try not to upgrade something unless you really like it, and even then every 10 lvls is usually fine). They did patch it to make it a little easier, but if you push to level 100+(preferably with dlc) you will notice how insane the system is in that regard. Main game should put you around lvl 50 by the end, and some of the bosses will really test you. Unless you're a Dark Souls fan then this game might be a cake walk.
