Dude FFVIII is a fucking train wreck (haha). The first disc is pretty decent but then the whole game nosedives hard and never stops. It's got good music/aesthetics and a couple of good characters but that's not enough to salvage an entire game.

Ok, I'm at the end of Disc 2 in the remaster...

The remaster lets you turbo through battles so it went by really fast, and... well,

1. You escape prison
2. You do a little mission with missiles/garden
3. Fisherman's Horizon
4. Cutscene at Trabia Garden
5. Garden Battle

That's it, that's THE WHOLE DISC... and thanks to turbo, the first 4 went by in about 2 hours.

Are you forgetting that the third disk of VII was just the final dungeon? At least VIII paced out the story more.

Sure, she was Nomura's attempt to mimic Amano's style, but she's still pretty blatantly Nomura's. Just before he developed his sexual fetish for belts and zippers.

One of my favorite parts in all of video games is when you try to assassinate the sorceress. It feels super exciting. The problem is, if they had kept Edea as your villian, it would have been better, because she was a cool villain. What you end up getting(random future sorceress and nebulous 'time kompression') was kinda stupid and dumb.

if you want to get technical, every disc in ff7 had the entire game in it

you just needed multiple discs due to the fmvs

none of the ps1 games are actually that long

Thats true...b/c when i brought a used copy of FF7, the 1st disc wouldn't load for whatever reason...so i swapped it out put 2nd disc in and it played fine...but with the cutscenes from the 2nd disc playing in place of the 1st disc ones...

Its my least-favourite as well, due to OCD and having to make sure everything is done in such a way, like the card game for example and having to plan to eliminate rules in a certain way.

I am stoked to try VIII. It's my friend's favourite FF. I've played through about a 1/3 of VII...it's enjoyable but hard to get into because I didn't grow up on it. I've been using the cheat thumbstick click on Switch tbh. I just want to experience the story, idk why but everything seems so long and drawn out to me.
