One thing I thought was neat was how the runner actually ran into the issue with losing his place on the spinning platforms in Bowser in the Sky. It was something that was brought up in the video about the fake run and how it is easy to deal with when you can see but pretty much impossible to recover from when you can't.

Yeah, I'm kind of glad for those moments where he had to intentionally take a death or go back through a door or otherwise reset his position in that run for that very reason.

Ive watched KungFu play Beat Saber on her own channel and shes great, but I dunno about doing this on the final day of the marathon especially because it isnt a speed run.

I know this is old man shakes fist at clouds grumbling but this and TAS bot arent my ideal end to the marathon.

Doesn't feel any different than a Tetris exhibition, just seeing someone playing a cool game at the highest level. I think it's okay to have a few "high score" games instead of speed games but I can understand not being interested too.

TAS is hit or miss but I appreciate the work that goes into setting them up and I like seeing these guys get a chance to showcase it.

They've had all kinds of showcases that aren't technically speedruns but still "in that area", and they're generally some of the most impressive segments and highest earners.

Tbh, I don't mind it entirely because by now I'm a bit burned out, so now this kind of thing lets me take care of stuff on a Saturday. I feel like they ought to spread it out a little more during the week though for a "breather" stuff but hey.

Yeah I know TAS block is hugely popular so Im in the minority on this one! Just kinda wish it was not on the final day of the marathon personally.

Tbh, I think most TAS blocks are kind of underwhelming now. Like, they had really cool ideas in the early years but now they feel sort of not as cool anymore.

I feel like the issue TAS block ran into was ACE started to become possible. Once it became possible to do anything, it was no longer possible to top yourself.

They ramped up with ACE for a while, but the one where they literally made a Skype-clone in real time was pretty much the point where escalation was no longer really possible.

I really love TASes so I'm into TASbot but since TASes are prerecorded it makes sense that it's not quite as exciting in a live context. I think it's gotta be something pretty big, like SM64 or something.

I'm not sure if this was before or after but I felt the peak was programming a level editor into SMW.

Edit: With that said, I think I still watch the TAS block every time anyways. >_>

These guys are basically assuming that's going to happen, yeah. They're not going to be competing in the same matches, they're just going to be playing for a set time and scoring based on their match results.

Yeah, queue RNG and sniping will absolutely come into play, but it's moreso just a showcase than like, an actual race/competition.

The hype kinda dies in the middle of long games and doesn't come back until the end, so maybe they thought it'd keep up better with several shorter games instead.

SMB35 seems like something where if Nintendo wanted to invest more effort into balancing a bit more, it could be really special.

Mario 35 was fun to watch. It's been a while since I've watched Mario 35. The competition is way tougher than it used to be. I used to watch players get 10+ win streaks with only moderate trouble. But, these 4 were among the best in the world and they frequently had to work hard for their wins.

When they would practice the game, they found mostly-consistent ways to end up in the same lobby with a bunch of good players all joining at the same time, that helped them level up their play a lot

Spike said "within the final three minutes" at the 1:27 minute mark, but the other guy sounds like he couldn't see the clock since yeah, he said 5 minutes like twice, which was weird.

EDIT: Yeah, the other guy goes "With like 5 minutes left" a minute after he already said 5 minutes, and then Spike immediately goes "And we're in the final minute." Wonder what they were looking at if one could see the time but the other couldn't.

I remember when the any% WR was longer than All Dungeons now is lol. I was going to say "just a few years ago" but pre-Wrong Warp was probably like 7 years ago and not the "like... ...5?" that my mind keeps insisting it must have been.
