Y'knowwww

Maybe - literally because soccer is INT'L and basketball isn't

But idk if like the world was really hype to like Lebrontron's shoes he came out with + his career.. I'm sure some of that worked it's way overseas

I can see Bruce Lee too tbh

but nehhhhh, still I think Maradona would take it

Kobe probably because it was shocking and completely unexpected. Plus he was an awesome dude and was just more relevant than Maradona. He was a coked up dickhead who hadn't done anything good in his life since he was a player and was basically on his way out for a few weeks because of his brain surgery.

No disrespect to what he achieved as a player though.

Wasn't Maradona the coach of Argentina's national team recently or something? Other than knowing the name, I have no idea who Kobe was, since basketball isn't really a thing outside of a few countries.

Death is inevitable. Sean Connery was old. Ruth Bader Ginsburg (arguably the most important American alive at the time) was old. Alex Trebek was terminal with a cancer of a 5% survival rate.

Kobe Bryant's death shocked the hell out of everyone.

Yeah he was their coach for short amount of time. Not sure if he won any important titles with them though, at the most something in South America but I doubt it.

George Floyd probably seemed like the biggest death to me, had hundreds of thousands of folks out in the streets all over the country, with millions more showing support online.

Sadly, Im not sure that it made enough change in our policing culture, but it at least was still important.

You guys are really comparing Kobe to Maradona?

You're fucking delusional, all of you.

Maradona was known WORLDWIDE to people of all ages, and most especially everyone 30 and above. World Champion in the most played and biggest sport in the world and one of the (arguably) greatest ever along with Pele, Messi, Di Stefano, Cruyff, etc. I didn't like the guy, mostly because of his dealings with Zurdos all around the world, but he's the biggest death of 2020 and it's not even close.

Kobe was an above average player in a sport that is not even top 5 most played in the world.

You need to get out of your fucking bubble.

Well so is Sean Connery. He is THE James Bond in the eyes of a lot of people (even those who grew up in the Brosnan or Craig eras, they'd know Sean Connery was the first).

It's obviously Maradona...he is one of the most popular footballers ever. Just the Hand of God moment alone cemented his place in infamy. Connery would be 2nd and then Kobe.

Not worldwide, most Americans don't give a fuck about soccer or know who he was. Connery on the hand, truly world famous.
