Maradona was known WORLDWIDE to people of all ages, and most especially everyone 30 and above. World Champion in the most played and biggest sport in the world and one of the (arguably) greatest ever along with Pele, Messi, Di Stefano, Cruyff, etc. I didn't like the guy, mostly because of his dealings with Zurdos all around the world, but he's the biggest death of 2020 and it's not even close. Kobe was an above average player in a sport that is not even top 5 most played in the world.
