Organizations like the United Nations rely heavily on the US, for example, and every other country in the world would be begging the US for its protection of maritime trade routes and land and air space if the US was not providing it already. There is a reason why many other Western nations and allies dont have to develop and maintain their own huge militaries, despite existing on a planet with various hostile forces.

This doesnt even touch on the impact of finance, medicines and new tech discoveries and innovations that are either produced directly or at least subsidized by the US. You think its just fucking coincidence that so many other countries promote learning English in addition to their own native one?

The fact that we still don't have a national lockdown in place as the new variant of covid is surging is proof that America needs to change.

We have plenty of flaws, but I think people tend to go for self-flagellating a bit too much.

America seems pretty middle of the road if you actually look at the numbers. Like, for all the complaints that people have about America's interpretation of capitalism, they have a higher rate of college attendance than germany, lower homelessness than half the EU, roughly the same poverty rates as across the more successful EU countries, a life expectancy that is about halfway between Eastern and Western europe, a higher median household income than most of europe, the higher rating than most of Europe when it comes to human rights, and they rank higher than most of Europe when it comes to racial tolerance.

It's easy to point at a country you don't live in and say the grass is greener, and America most certainly has things that need to work on, but this weird meme notion that the US is some dumpster fire just doesn't line up with all of the actual data that exists that compares conditions in America to europe.

So, you know, trust the scientists.
