2020 is better than every year before people had toilets and probably worse on average than any of the last fifty years.
the space between toilets and 1970 is probably better or worse on a case by case basis, I dunno.

its definitely historically bad, in the sense that we will remember it in history as a very bad year even if its better than getting killed by a volcano or whatever shit was going on a thousand years ago

As an introvert, I didn't miss socialising. It was great in that regard.
Working from home is sooo much better than being in the crappy office.

But I wouldn't say it was a great year or anything. Middling quality.

Personally speaking, not even close. I got married and I currently have more money in the bank than any point in my lifetime, and a stable job that is continuing to pay extremely well. I've been able to spend a lot of time doing hobbies of mine this year as well since they don't require the access to the public other things do.

Obviously there have been downfalls, personally speaking that is. We didn't have our honeymoon, she was out of work for quite some time and there are things we'd have liked to do that we could not. But in a personal way, I couldn't rank 2020 that low in terms of my life years. Obviously it's the worst year for the world in my lifetime but I don't think this topic is asking that question since it's a foregone conclusion.

The general state of the world has made me feel quite a bit of despair, but my personal circumstances have been better than usual.

no, it was pretty bad. Work has been a nightmare and Im suffering a lot by not seeing friends but I had my son at the beginning of the year and hes the best thing thats ever happened to me. So bad, but has some really amazing bright spots in there.

Please help me understand this, and I swear I'm not being a dick here. I've never been someone who gets upset by things like the news, or the state of the world, or whatever. I've always felt like we choose how we react to stuff, and I just choose not to care and live my best life no matter what.

My second son was born earlier this year and I got my Commercial Pilot License this year as well. Plus a lot more gaming time than I've ever had so on those virtues alone it hasn't been the worst year but somehow I had myself uttering the words this is the worst fucking year ever so many times (more than I have ever had in my life) so yeah I dunno man. Definitely one of if not the worst year of my life so far though.

2019 was worse for me.

It was an alright year. I did miss traveling, and some social events I definitely missed (live shows, primarily), but I still found a way to stay in touch with friends and I love working from home.
