okay actually the most offensive words were the ones praising Chuchel for Best Style when its main character was a blackface stereotype but this takes second place

I thought for sure that Hades was a lock for top 3 in both categories, but I can't complain about what ended up at the top of each of the lists.

Regarding visuals, I would have cut Hades just for the second area as well. It is a mess to play through every time I get to it.

I'm always a promoter of style over realism, but Ori doesn't do much for me though I get it. I don't give a shit about how Flight Simulator looks, no argument in favor of that works for me. Would have cut that first.

Oh Flight Simulator deserves it for the weather stuff alone, its an incredible achievement thats never been done before. There is also a very high level of fidelity on top of the tech. All that stuff will change how games can look. It was absolutely my winner. I think they got the right top 3, at first I was surprised to see Hades go, but after seeing the shortlist of 6 it was just a really tough category.

The idea that Flight Simulator and Ori are things that can be compared in a meaningful way is just kind of silly to begin with.

Video games are so many things now that basically any attempt to judge all of them is going to end up like apples vs. oranges.

The music categories in GB GotY are always fucked. I gave up entirely on them in 2019 when they cut Three Houses almost right away after just playing this song to make a dubstep joke.

this stuff is kind of a crapshoot, theres just too many games executing at such a high level. Youre going to end up leaving out some really excellent stuff.

I dont mind FF getting cut. Its obviously great, but it has the head start of building on top of an already incredible soundtrack from the original game.
