I figure some of their flavors already exist, they just change the name and logo to get new buyers or make their regular buyers think it's something new.

I know beer companies like Sam Adam's and Sierra Nevada does it for their holiday brands.

Am I the only one kind of bothered by this?

Like they're commercializing the fight against racial injustice with an ice cream flavor. It sounds super tone deaf. I get that Nike already threw their hat in the ring on this, but an ice cream flavor seems even less tasteful.

Is there a Black Lives Matter cereal out there? Or maybe a BLM branded umbrella?

I mean, I'm also not one to turn down trying a new Ben and Jerry's flavor so I can't lie and act like I'll never try this though lol.

How does Ben and Jerry's stay afloat? I've had them once, maybe twice in my life, and they're good, sure, but they're like 2.5 times the price of other ice cream on the market.

Who buys this? Seems like the population group most susceptible to their hip marketing would also be the group least likely to have the financial fortune to pay over overpriced ice cream.

Non-dairy frozen dessert is generally made with vegetable oil and milk (in this case, sunflower milk) and often contains trans fats. The nutritional value is generally even worse than actual ice cream.

Frozen dairy dessert, on the other hand, is a label that results because the FDA does not allow products to be called ice cream if they contain less than 10% milkfat, contain more than 100% overrun (that is, the product can't be more than literally half air whipped in), or weigh less than 4.5 lbs per gallon. It is generally still a dairy product.

Frozen dairy dessert is an utter plague on the grocery store ice cream isle. The stuff is gooey and paste-like. It literally doesn't melt into a liquid but instead turns into a sort of sludge. It tastes awful as well. Generally the flavors with a bunch of candy and such mixed in are frozen dairy desserts because people will buy them regardless. Even the stuff they can still label "ice cream" has dramatically dropped in both size and quality over time, but half the stuff in the aisle is basically inedible frozen dairy dessert now.
