I have been getting gout here and there for like 7 years. Usually not a big deal, a prescription strength Ibuprofen would kill the swelling right away.

I haven't had a gout attack in like 2 years until cue beginning of October. Literally the worst one I ever had. I didn't have anymore of the prescription strength Ibuprofen and used the "max" dose on my otc stuff. No dice. I couldn't literally walk. Went to the ER. They tapped my knee. Aspirated it. Shot a steroid into it. And have me some medicine to reduce the swelling. I felt better 2 days later.

Began allopurinol a uric acid reducer.

For a couple of days I was good It came back almost just as bad. They gave me a steroid again to reduce the swelling. It worked for 3 days then it came back lesser. And I have been in various stages of gout for like 2 weeks after.

Finally that stopped but then this on going issue has come up where my knee just feels super weak almost all the time. A sharp pain in my knee that rears up almost 3-4 days a week. I have full motion of my knee but it hurts immensely at times to fully straigjten or fully bend a lot.

Steps have become a bitch. Passing physicals for work jobs feel like climbing mountains at this point. Like, the only thing I can think of is that the gout attack destroyed something in my knee or him putting that needle into my knee did.

Is this literally a point of no return on needing a knee replacement?

My dad has had knee replacement surgery, and based on what his doctor's told him is he is going to need the other replaced at some point in time, it's just a matter of how much you can stand it.

Pretty much comes to a point of whether you feel like dealing with that shit or not.

I just am unsure of why my knee has gotten so bad so quickly. Like, my shit is fucked up. My knee feels like it will buckle a lot. My muscles flares around it. It makes me walk awkwardly that causes pain in my foot to my hip. It's some real bullshit.

Yep, I get it.

I'm a pretty avid lifter and a couple years ago I had an absolutely debilitating hip, uhh problem. I never went to the Dr to actually see if something was torn or anything. In fact I have no idea what even caused it. All I know is at one day it decided to go to shit. Anyway it was so bad that if I put too much weight on that leg it would just give out. Tripping on anything was an auto fall to the ground, I decided to let it rest by stop doing anything involving my hips or legs too much. This is was hard because the nature of my job was very demanding, and like I said I like to lift. By essentially cutting out my lower legs lifts, and having very limited walking or using my legs in general, it finally go to the point where it went away.

I'm also the person who absolutely hates doctor visits or minute clinic shit. So I don't go unless it's super serious.

Seek a doctor if it gets too bad, but at the end of the day it comes down to time and pain management.

My right knee has been on the downhill slide for like six or seven years, and now it's crunchy, for lack of a better word. Started out with occasional pain/buckling when taking the stairs, now it hurts every time I take the stairs and starts to lock up or buckle if I'm taking the stairs for more than a few minutes. It also audibly creaks and pops throughout any motion and sounds like a ratcheting wrench.

If I sit down and extend my leg not only can you hear it but if you put your hand on it you can feel it. It feels like a metallic candy wrapper crinkling inside my knee.

That's my crunchy knee story.

i broke both my kneecaps and right ankle at 18 years old, im now early 30s. I'm starting to feel it, but i still like to do squats at the gym so im torn. Perhaps literally torn as well, since my knees suck.

Basically I just avoid long stretches of standing on my feet and i usually feel ok.

It seems like downtime makes it feel worse and using it makes feel better. Or at least. Not moving it makes it a bitch the next time I go to use it. Where as constantly using it gets to a dull pain in which I can normalize. It felt relatively alright for a few days before I camped outside walmart standing in one spot for 5 hours. Now, I'm fucked again and have a physical tomorrow lol.

Would wearing a brace or one of those knee sleeve things help?

It makes sense that it would feel better when you're active, since you're increasing the blood flow and keeping the area warm.

Not the same thing, but I know when I've got sore muscles sometimes the best thing to do is some light exercise using those muscles. Usually seems to help speed up the recovery process.

So, I have the knee brace. And I was using it. And it seemed to help, but I am not sure if it actually helps or if it is just limiting my range of motion. So I took it off a few weeks ago. I could put it back on but the reason I took it off was I was going to take a high heat job in which I couldn't have worn that to so I needed to be used to not having it on. I don't think this jobs physical would be thrilled if I had one on. Maybe they wouldn't care. Idk. But, maybe after the physical I will put it back on.

The other job made me squat multiple times, hold the position, then waddle like a duck. I thought my knee was being stabbed lol
