Well they both kind of suck tbh but it would take a year for teleport circle to be useful, so I guess time stop. There are definitely a bunch of other spells I would rather have.

Teleport would be completely useless for a year yeah but after that it would be very useful. It would become much better after each year too.

i've never read the description before

"This spell ends if one of the Actions you use during this period, or any Effects that you create during this period, affects a creature other than you or an object being worn or carried by someone other than you."

so you can't use it to attack, what the hell is even the point, then?

I don't get how Teleportation Circle works. Say I make a circle at home and then travel overseas and make a circle there... they will both remain active as long as I visit each one once per day for a year, and I can teleport between them to do this?

Mostly just throwing a bunch of buffs on yourself or setting up damage over time spells.

I mean in a way you can. Time stop, knock someone on his ass, cast another time stop, etc.

Or...is there a significant cooldown?

so you would have to wait until next turn to do it

It is a 9th level spell so even a max level wizard can cast it once per long rest.

Best case scenario you get time stop for 30 seconds, but there is also a chance you only get a 12 second time stop. You aren't going to run very far.

Time stop would only last a maximum of 30 seconds, where as Teleportation Circle is a free hearth; I could rob a bank and teleport back home. Timestop wouldnt even give me enough to to rob a convenience store.

Not really. Circle takes an entire minute to cast, not only that but the portal would stay open for 6 seconds too. Pretty sure the cops would just tackle your ass long before you finish drawing the circle.

It takes more than a minute for cops to show up. Just lock yourself in the vault, get everything ready and teleport out.

How the fuck are you getting into the vault. Most banks nowadays make it so not even the manager can get into vault.

Last I checked they were generally open during the day because otherwise all the money collected throughout the day is outside and vulnerable. And if I had to.. idk, make a full plan I'd do that.

The material cost for the circle doesnt make it worth it if you have to spend 50 gp of material to cast it

I dont know how much 50 gp translates to USD precisely but youd have to spend 18,250 gp of material to make one permanent circle.

So 36,500 just for a pair to teleport between work/home or such. Even if 1 gp = $10, thats $365,000 so totally not worth the cost
