I never thought it would make its way into our home but it did. Now we just gotta keep our distance and stay away which is kinda easy anyways since he spends most of the time in his room. In general, if both the uninfected person and the infected person are wearing masks, and especially if distancing is also more or less maintained, the risk of transmission during everyday activities is quite low. Goggles would further reduce that risk (for the uninfected person, they won't do much of anything for the infected), but that's rarely going to be worthwhile enough to justify the discomfort and cost. For particularly high-risk people or people engaging in riskier activities (such as flying or working in health care), though, it's easier to recommend them. --- This is my signature. If it is a crime to withhold that information, that discourages people from getting tested, which in turn keeps them from getting treated and increases both the risk of them becoming seriously ill and the risk of transmitting it to a sexual partner (since I believe uncontrolled infections are more readily transmissible). Where it's actually fairly easy to control HIV these days and wearing a condom is often enough to prevent transmission (and even unprotected, vaginal sex only has a ~0.08% chance of transmitting it to the woman, and half that to the man), it's not likely to be THAT big of a deal if an HIV-positive person doesn't fully inform their partner, and I can see the rationale behind deciding that the risk of somebody going undiagnosed for fear of getting tested is worse than that relatively low risk of transmitting a disease that isn't particularly likely to be fatal. Of course, on the other hand, you're talking about having sex with somebody who hasn't been given all of the information they need to provide informed consent to that sex. That's never okay, and to that end, I don't think people should be allowed to knowingly conceal STI's from partners. (Not that California's laws on STI disclosure are overly relevant ton this topic, but it is a fun aside to discuss.) --- This is my signature.
