But then I think about some of the other boards, and those are a complete mess. Sometimes a hilarious mess, but still a mess.

Sometimes I go to the comic or movie boards and its like stepping into a time machine, people are immediately throwing around grade school level insults at the slightest provocation, like i feel board 8 has mostly gotten over that mentality?? We definitely have some standout trolls but for the most part our arguments don't devolve instantly like those on other boards. No idea when things changed cuz they definitely used to be that bad here too

In genereal, the social boards are across the board better than any game boards. But even then, most of the social boards are still trash. This place actually has a decent community around it, likely because of the camaraderie of latching onto such a narrow niche of video game popularity contests, and the 20 year history means most of us have actually matured. This comes at the expense of very little new blood, but even then, the newbies that come around occassionally generally tend to be decent people.

Sometimes I'll forget I'm not on board 8 when scrolling a different message board on gamefaqs.

"Oh that's weird, a new troll showed up and is acting like an idiot, haven't seen that for a while"
"Oh there's a second troll! Are we being invaded? is that a thing"

Usually by the third post I catch on

Not one of my more active boards. There aren't many trolls, but also not much in the way of new ideas or new and varied topics, so it seems a bit rural and numbing. But the various contest topics are cool, because you don't really see much of a passion for that kind of thing on other boards, and I really like voting in them and discussing opinions about them. I like what this board offers, but it would be way too depressing to only post in this bubble, so I voted Average.
