Rose. TLJ was pure dogshit of a movie and she is partially why, as opposed to the shit JJ had to pull out off his ass for the last entry after TLJ fucked up the ST and possibly Star Wars beyond repair.

I can kinda appreciate and understand what her character was saying.

But fucking bringing back Emperor Palpatine of all things especially after Disney threw out the EU novel material, and some people agreed with this decision, saying that some of the plot points, like specifically bringing back Emperor Palpatine would be stupid to do, and Disney would do better, more original things, yet Disney ripped off the EU anyway, and somehow worse is completely unforgivable. The only thing they did that was dumber than that was somehow making Palpatine Rey's grandfather.

For what it's worth, I don't think Rose Tico is inherently a bad, unsalvagable character. I think the harassment Kelly Marie Tran has faced for the role is awful, and if given better material to work with I think she would have been fine - frankly, I think all the newcomers were done dirty with dogshit material after TFA served as a safe launch-pad for them, and Rose Tico had the misfortune of jumping on AFTER that safe launch-pad.

But I didn't like her swerve into romantic interest in Finn at the end, and I didn't like anything about Finn's thwarted sacrifice. That was a bad scene, and frankly it should have been cut along with the big Canto Bight chase sequence. This was a pointless culmination to a storyline that was held together with lint and toothpicks, and it was a pointless extension of an already overlong movie.

But let's be real here. "Somehow, Palpatine returned" is the biggest cop-out piece of shit in the sequel trilogy. Even if Finn's thwarted sacrifice was dogshit, it felt like it at least tried to have a lazy, tacked-on point to it. Palpatine's return lacked even that. Even when Palpatine was an ass-pull greater scope villain in Return of the Jedi, he at least had a point. Now he's a lazy, cynical draw to draw paying customers into a trainwreck if a movie, and they don't even give him the dignity of having a reason why he returned. The way they handwaved his return away set the tone for the entire movie, and the entire movie met the standard of this moment.

The Last Jedi derailed the trilogy, to the point that it arguably made The Rise of Skywalker possible in the first place. But even if you want to judge the movies on that scale, the rock-bottom moments of TRoS are still worse than TLJ's worst moments. Even if TLJ felt really self-righteous and full of itself in how it directly responded to The Force Awakens, it still felt like it tried. Even as a wholly unnecessary conclusion to a padded out subplot, Rose Tico preventing Finn from ganking himself felt like it tried to have a point. It missed the mark, and maybe they didn't try very hard, but it was going for something.

"Somehow, Palpatine returned" is the movie going "shut the fuck up, Palpatine's back, now watch this rushed dogturd of a movie we made specifically to pander to you, a dumb nerd we don't give two shits about. Buy a Kylo Ren coffee mug and a Porg plushie, you whale".

I am going with Rose's because that was just on RJ all by himself. JJ had to try to salvage shit and turn it into something so I am giving him more a break. I mean who else could have been the big Bad. The D was banking on that Reylo so Kylo couldn't be the big Bad, and they emasculated to the point where he was just a joke so it couldn't be him.

This one is actually really tough. I suppose there were no real lasting consequences of Roses stupid ass stunt that made no sense. Hell, despite all that happened in TLJ, it felt like none of it actually mattered at all come TROS. >_>
