Do you support the ending of funding the border wall?

Incoming President, Joe Biden said he will IMMEDIATELY HALT construction of Donald Trump's massive billion dollar BORDER WALL once he gets into office..but anything built so far, which is a paltry 12 miles of wall, will remain!!

Trump spent 15 BILLION of tax payer dollars for just 12 miles of of wall that just reinforces areas with existing barriers and building brand new 30 foot tall bollard fencing

While 400 miles of see through black metal slats were built, only 12 miles of the obrder did not have some sort of existing barrier before construction restarted

Texas Rep Henry Cuellar said the voters not opting for a second Trump term was lagely due to the opposition of the wall which was not paid for by Mexico was promised

He's worked on the House Appropriations Committe and has attempted to hinder efforts to build more wall after Trump siphoned billions from the military to build more of the wall when Congress refused to give more

The wall was one of Trump's big campaign promises as he has not had much luck building the massive wall along the mexican border despite the infamous chant of "Build the wall" as his rallies

They view the wall as not only a deterrent but a barrier to stop smuggling and illegal border crossing but also as symbol to let illegal immigrants know they aren't welcome

Immigration advocates call the move an affront on immigrants.

Biden said he will work to undo curbs trump did to curb refugee and immigration admission and other policies he made through executive order

Do you support the ending of the wall?

Yep, he better make sure no land was stolen from US citizens for that wall too. Pretty sure there were some eminent domain cases started.

An affront to immigrants?

What exactly was preventing them from going through the legal process instead of resorting to criminally passing the border? Oh yeah... the typical entitlement.

quick question: do you even know what the legal requirement is?

do you even know that trump has been blocking all visa and citizen exam attempts for the past four years? even for people who have been trying to do it the legal way for...several years prior?

because that's what it takes. it takes many years, and tens of thousands of dollars, among other things, to even request to take the citizenship exams.

it's not at all just "go here, fill this out, sign these, you're a citizen now". no, it's much, much harder than that. and the US has, had, some of the most lax requirements of every other first world country.

I apologize it offends you (shocker), but last time I checked, the endless amount of people having walls on their properties is not considered an affront to neighbors (most times), and still involved the basic concept that you're not entitled to cross on someone's lawn without them knowing and allowing it.

But do continue to resort to feelings over logic.

I was kinda hoping he would build the wall, since it would keep a lot of construction workers busy for a while and also not do anything to slow illegal immigration lol

No, that's not the smart way to do it. Putting active effort into it would just further waste taxpayer money. Rather, abandon the wall, let it be worn away by the elements, ripped apart by the opponents of Trump and the wall, let people tear it down of their own volition to give themselves a historical souvenir, and don't raise a finger to stop them.

The illegal immigration situation is a problem, but a wall is no solution even if it was a reasonable endeavor.

Imagine thinking that

A) You were going to build a 2000 mile wall over private property
B) The statistics showing illegal immigration halting due to natural reasons are fake news
C) The statistics showing the fact that illegal immigrants typically overstay their visas are fake news
D) After reading this you still think a wall would have been reasonable very adamantly

It's not even a moral argument it's just stupid. Even Trump's closest allies laughed at his wall. With that kind of money you might as well do a new infrastructure deal.

The illegal immigration situation is a problem, but a wall is no solution even if it was a reasonable endeavor.

...except for the fact that prior to Trump, we HAD used physical barriers in places as well -- as is the practice with most nations which have non-natural borders. And had some of his other proposals gone through, the wall could have stopped passage across the southern border... although those proposals were more expensive and he couldn't even fund the basic version.

Also, given everything that the far-left had been outraged over involving Trump, I had more or less forgotten about the border wall.

And why hike a small amount of drugs through the desert? That isn't causing the drug epidemic. The truck loads getting through legal ports of entry do.

Trump only got behind it because it resonated with his crowds in 2016, and because he loves any giant structure he can put his name on. He didn't give one shit how affective it was at dealing with the problem.

Gigantic waste of money, and we can improve border security in better ways. Not that we really need to, though; the majority of undocumented immigrants are people who came here legally and didn't leave.

I feel like this just isn't true. It's just that those are the ones we're aware of because they have a paper trail of sorts. I've worked with illegal immigrants in the past and all of them "jumped the fence"

How you feel isn't really relevant, because it is true. Undocumented immigrants are counted on the census. We have data. Your anecdotes don't outweigh hard stats.
