Will you still have a big family christmas with all of your relatives this year?

Most likely, you live in a place where strict rules are in place cause of COVID-19 for big gatherings and those big family dinners will be banned this year....that means your ideal big family christmas dinners like the Griswold's will not happen and it'll just be you and your immediately family members...

So will you still have a big family christmas anyway and break the rules or will you follow them?

Nah, my grandma used to hold those. I'd go visit, but after she died about 7 years ago, we haven't done anything much. My brother and his wife might come see us, but I wouldn't really count that as anything big.

Nah, in my family a "big dinner" is 5 people (including me). We had one for my grandfather's birthday back in June, I imagine we might have one for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I used to attend large family Christmas dinners but that was before we moved to Florida after my father in law and father died within a year of each other. Now there's only the 3 of us since my mother in law's gone; my sister in law dines with her church on the holidays.

Our usual "big dinner" is just the immediate family. There's a good chance that won't happen, though, since I've got one sister in London (which just locked down pretty hard again and probably won't be travel-safe by Christmas), and another in Montreal (which isn't locked down as hard, but Quebec in general is a bit of a mess and travelling isn't a great idea). That means it'll probably just be my mother and me, as far as family goes (and possibly her boyfriend, but his brother on the other side of the country has been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and therefore probably won't see another Christmas, so as much as travelling isn't a great idea, I think he's justified in doing so).

My girlfriend, on the other hand, would have been flying to be with her mom in Toronto, then going to her grandmother's place in Montreal along with family from several other places for a larger gathering. That tradition had already be scaled down quite a bit after her grandfather died a few years ago and her grandmother moved from their good-sized house into a smaller, assisted-living apartment, but it's definitely not happening in any regard this year. She's also accepted that she won't be going to Toronto (not as bad as Montreal, but still not doing well right now), and will instead be spending Christmas here with my mother and I. So that's different.

No Thanksgiving get-together among my cousins so likely no Christmas one either. Currently trying to plan a potluck, KBBQ, or shabu shabu among friends though for Thanksgiving.

I haven't had a "big family Christmas" anything since been a kid. I don't even bother with Christmas this much these days. The only effort I make is for my nice and nephews really as they are kids.
