I just beat Heat level 32 and was about to post. It was sorta my first try, because the first attempt was with Excalibur and I just immediately quit before I even fought an enemy since the first upgrade was Cursed Slash <_<

I'm probably never doing the modifier where you have just one choice on boons ever again.

High traffic from the election I guess? I always thought it was two days. Anyway for Orpheus and Eurydice I think you have to give them nectar until their questline thing becomes locked and then talking to Nyx at some point will let you go into the contract room for them. For the harp just keep playing it between runs. I finished that kinda recently and felt like it took forever.

And also, I am bonded with quite a few people now. What does it mean?

I think you need to have gotten the 20 keys part of the mirror before you can switch over upgrades. As for bonds there are keepsakes at first, their little storyline/quest later on when you've given them more nectar, and some of them give you an extra item at the end.

Literally never even noticed the arrows on the side that allow you to switch between skills. Sheesh!

It was like that with me as well, lol. Hell, I didnt even know you could switch between weapon aspects until like 50 hours into the game.

I cant get Divine Protection. You have to have Brilliant Riposte, but you have to have 1/4 things to get that. So I need 2 of them and then hope for a Legendary.

Currently going through all the duo boons for the prophecy, and man some of these look really bad. Like whats up with the Demeter/Aphrodite duo? Cold Embrace, where all your crystal beam casts fire at you instead of enemies. How is that practical in any way whatsoever? Definitely gonna have to get that one on a low heat/throwaway run and ruin a streak most likely.

Cast it, then run to the backside of the enemy. Death ice beam!

Honestly, it sucks there's no cast range to it, so you drop it and then need to be mobile. The Demeter+Artemis duo boon, on the other hand, is absolutely rad.

Yeah I kinda figured it wouldnt actually cause any damage to you, I just dont understand how its practical at all. Cant think of a situation where it would help, seems like its counterintuitive and makes aiming harder, idk.

Yeah the Demeter Artemis duo seems like the inverse of Cold Embrace and better in every way lol, got it in one run and it was so great

Also, does giving one honey to each person in the hub and also that gives you boons give you an item at the closet? and how do i unlock the row at the bottom? beating the game?

i have best progress with the bow. what would be the best god to work with it? I used dionsys mostly and had hangover along with the lobbing spell which increased hangover damage in the fog and that was literal tits up slaying everyone

The fourth area works differently in which you only get the reward at the end of that hallway, which has multiple smaller chambers with no rewards.

Yes, giving nectar to an NPC usually gives you a keepsake, but the final row is a different kind of reward, its a companion. You only get companions from specific characters and usually it takes 6 nectar and 1 ambrosia to get their companion, along with a side quest you have to do for that character.

also noticed i need 2 diamonds from the contractor, but when i beat the skull hydra, i do not receive the diamond anymore. saw i could buy titans blood for 1200 on floor 4...do i need to buy the 2 diamonds like this to unlock that?

Ambrosia is a reward you get for beating the third boss, the duo boss of Elysium. You only get boss rewards (titan blood for first area, diamond for second area, ambrosia for third area etc) once per heat. You can only increase the heat of your run after you beat the final boss for the first time, in which you unlock the pact of punishment which allows you to increase heat by making a playthrough more difficult in a variety of ways.

Otherwise, yes you can get diamonds and titan blood by buying them at Charons shop in the fourth area. Each run its a 50/50 random chance that he will sell either a titans blood for 1200 or a diamond for 1000. You can also use the broker shop at the house of hades to buy a resource you need. All these alternative ways are slower than just raising your heat, but raising your heat is more difficult since you have to beat the game first and play through it with harder things added to it.

Alright I have now beaten Extreme Measures 4 with Sword, Spear, and Bow. Not sure what I wanna try next.

my last two runs i fought against different bosses. managed to get another diamond from hydra on the second time beating his new form, which i think was different from the other different one. more bad guys that took longer to kill..

also some npc said i had ambrosia. what should i do with it? should I just look at a wiki for this game? haha

Keys unlock both weapons and more tiers of upgrades for the mirror. You can also use them in trades and at least one of the cosmetic work orders. Ambrosia will be used at the end of character questlines instead of Nectar, and then they're used to upgrade certain items you get near the end of some of those questlines. There are six weapons, and iirc you can start upgrading them after you get them all.

sorry to spam so many questions...but when you say end of character questlines instead of nectar, does that mean by giving them so much nectar to fill out their hearts? Looking at Achilles page, I have 2 hearts filled in with a third grayed and more behind that. Does another nectar unlock questlines?

Every character will eventually stop taking Nectar after you've given them enough. You'll know you've reached this point because the next heart will have a lock on it, and then the questline will start a bit after that. Character lines in this get kinda queued up which makes some of this a chore when you're trying to get a specific line whenever you talk(or they're just straight up not there).

They're all fairly obvious about what you should do next unless you were not paying attention/skipping dialogue I guess, but even then characters will have exclamation points and whatnot when something new or important comes up.

the game looks like it's mostly about individual runs but actually has an absolutely massive amount of metaprogression to the point where I'm almost more comfortable calling it an rpg than a roguelite. just keep playing and the topic will make sense eventually

honestly I find it extremely useful, though maybe it's because I somehow keep ending up with that cast while using fists. the beams turn extremely slowly and against more mobile enemies are near useless, but with that duo you can just set them all and go punch them some and you're guaranteed to have every beam hitting the entire time

Outside of the Boons you get from the Gods [You Special Does x% more damage and does Blank, for example], you can also get the Hammer upgrades and some of them will give you bonus damage as well.

Then you'll be able to upgrade the weapons themselves you have to unlock them all first, which just takes Keys. Once you do, you'll be be able to start upgrading them and switching their Aspect, which changes how the weapons works. Each weapon has 4 Aspects on it that you can upgrade, the 4th one only coming when you upgrade the weapon, and you have to upgrade the Spear first, unless they've changed that.

Adding onto this, in my experience its going to help you more to focus on getting better builds every run with boons, rather than upgrading the weapons themselves. The weapon upgrades from leveling aspects arent as noticeable than getting better at proper boon selection and combining them well together with other boons.

Got the fists and the machine bowgun and now have unlocked everything. I think I like the fists and the bow the most. Thought I was gonna survive forever on my last run, had some good combos, two duo boons and gained health with every special kill with the fists, but ended up dying anyway.

Would like to beat the game just once..haha

Do you keep dying a a particular boss/spot, or do you still have trouble making it to the last area in general? The third area and last two boss fights were the hardest parts for me. Also I don't know if you're already doing this, but you can try to get a build going early game with the God's keepsakes in the first two area's.

i don't know what this means.

first area is easy. i can breeze thru that, sometimes get damaged bad on the boss if i do not have good boons to do real damage. i do not like the 2nd area enemies, usually use one death defiance by end of second boss out of my two. third area enemies are a bitch so i can die sometimes there. some rooms are bad, like the thousand withches rooms with projectiles. if i cannot deflect i usually lose lots of health in that room. and the third boss is a bitch. bow guy blocking and shooting me a lot. died on my last run there.

So the keepsakes you get from a God guarantee that they'll have a room spawn in whatever the next area is. If for example you love Dionysus' Trippy Shot cast you can take his item in the room where you select your weapons, and then you'll have a guaranteed shot at finding him in Tartarus. Then after you beat the first area you can change your keepsake to Zeus if you wanted to try for the Duo boon that makes Trippy Shot cause lightning bolts.

Although to change keepsakes mid-run you need to buy that option from the contractor.

ah, i'm dumb. yeah, i have some of the god keepsakes. i forget that's what those items are called and i can switch them between floors. still trying to get a feeling of what i should be doiong each run, i guess, in terms of which gods and boons to select and how they compliment.

maybe i'll get better in time, but i tend to never clear these types of games. never managed to escape the gungeon lol

Dont be shy about putting it on God Mode. It slowly makes the game a bit easier as you take reduced damage after each death.

I love Enter the Gungeon but it's way harder than Hades imo. If I could've had three revives in Gungeon I would've beaten it way sooner. Also, God Mode doesn't affect progression.
