Currently going through all the duo boons for the prophecy, and man some of these look really bad. Like whats up with the Demeter/Aphrodite duo? Cold Embrace, where all your crystal beam casts fire at you instead of enemies. How is that practical in any way whatsoever? Definitely gonna have to get that one on a low heat/throwaway run and ruin a streak most likely.

Cold embrace can be pretty solid on Hera Bow.

Note that other builds are almost certainly a lot better.

Well, I am sad. two rounds after turning on god mode, i made it to Hades with 3 death defiances left (or 2, wasn't sure if i was maxed yet) and i died to him. idk how he dealt so much damage, but he did and now i'm sad. it was a fun run that had shield with zeus power to throw it with hangover effect, along with casting rift vortexes so i was just spinning damage all over.

now my current run with 3 defiances has the spear along with doom on special and attack and laser crystals as casting with a +86% cast damage. so i'm just shredding bosses with that and hope i can beat the game this run lol. currently in elysium

Occasionally Hades will throw out flaming skulls that kinda hone in on you. If they hit you, you get a debuff "burning blood" which causes Hades' future hits to deal more damage. Try to dodge 'em, or start dashing away when he's doing his casting animation

(Then kill them, so they don't aslode and hurt you in the blast radius. Or dash through those shockwaves).

so i'm about to throw down with hades agin, this time with 166 health and then 2 death defiances. i just noticed looking through my skills that you can press A and then there's a little disc on top left of the icon and then it fills up the screen, but only up to 5.

uh...was i to select these to make them active and can only choose 5 at a time?

Wow. I've cleared the game about 4-5 times now and didn't know that.
Is there a time limit on that debuff or will his future hits deal more damage for the rest of the fight?

it runs out eventually, and when it does the skull pops out of you and lands on the ground. There's some sort of weird greenish crystals around the border of the screen while you have the debuff on you

The cool thing about the Hades fight is that his Bloodstones also give him Boiling Blood like Zagreus' own buff, and in the Exreme Measures version of the fight he calls his own Companion Cerberus.

Kinda wish that if you beat him on some absurd amount of heat that he would Uncover the mirror in his chambers and start messing you up with his own sets of buffs.

Purely a masochistic desire though.

I think I was on my 23rd or 24th attempt when I got my first clear, Got my next clear abour 2-3 attempts after that, then went on to a fat streak and I would say I get a clear most of the time nowadays, love how adaptive this game is.

17 tries for my first clear I think. It was with Aspect of Hades iirc.

Recommend against sword and fists for your first kill. Stick to ranged stuff.

It might take a robust number of clears (rotating weapons to whatever has the darkness bonus) until you get enough keys and darkness for misc powerups like more lives or increased chance for epic boons or whatever.

A beginner-friendly build is probably something like:

Aphrodite or Poseidon Normal
Ares Special
Athena Dash
Artemis or Dionysus Cast
Poseidon, Athena, or Ares God Summon

Which'll work with any of spear/bow/gun/shield. Keep doom up from a safe distance, attack if they get close, and pop god summon for invulnerability as needed.

Give 1 nectar to each god to get their keepsakes, and then rotate them out inbetween acts to shoehorn towards this build, In act 4, skelly tooth is probably best, and if you're at max lives still, Cerb keepsake should net out to more HP than skelly.

I think I used all the keys needed, lol. Should send pic of my mirror stats. i'm pretty much maxed there. should i spend points to get epic or legendary boons? i think i spent 15% on epic before seeing that legendary is on the other side.

are keys only good for trading to nectars after you buy all weapons and unlock all skills in the mirror?

Latter in the game they will have an extra benefit when you pick them up during escape attempts.

I beat him on my 28th attempt after fighting him 4-5 times then went on a 3 win streak. Don't give up.
Like Philsov mentioned, go for ranged attacks. First time I fought him, I had really buffed up my dash blade rifts. Thought I could just spam those and slaughter him like everything else. Nope....he destroyed me. Here's some general tips as I'm not sure what's slipping you up.

• When he summons enemies or skulls, focus on getting rid of them first before resuming the attack on Hades.
• You probably have noticed but when he goes invisible, you can see his foot prints in the snow. I use that to bait him into an attack so I can attack him from behind.
• Hide behind rocks for his lasers.
• Nearly all of his attacks have some wind up or tell before he uses them. Learn these so you can respond appropriately.

and is there a point to gemstones after upgrading it all? seems like i need diamonds to construct more, but they are tough to get now. should i spend a diamond to fish, or save up more for bigger bonus? spent 3 diamonds to build boon level up with nectar room. doesn't seem like gemstones have much use outside of decorating house of hades, which i see no point in doing.

also probably should be more diligent in having a plan and not spamming. usually when shit gets insane i just dash around and attack. probably dashing into attacks thinking it'll keep me invincible longer than it does. just spam random shit and i die, so guess i need to slow down haha

Fishing is pretty great for the longterm rewards, and you should be decorating the House enough to finish the sidequest that has you building like thirty cosmetic upgrades for the House. I wanna say you get Diamonds out of it but I don't remember.

Yep. Gives you another re-roll attempt when you get the option to start re-rolling the Boons it gives you to select from.

If your DPS is high enough, you don't have to worry about as many mechanics of the fight. Yeah, you could have to dodge his spin 20 times and get really good at it....or you could have high enough dps that he only lasts for 20-30 seconds a phase and you can just brute force your way through any troubles.

I honestly think a high health, high DPS Aphrodite build is probably the easiest first clear. Start stacking damage output and reduction, and just keep whacking away at the old man until he crumbles.

Edit: Nice first clear. Now you'll hit like a 3-4 streak and be baffled that he was your roadblock for as long as he was.

Sure was. I am surprised I beat him. Only had one defiance left when I started the first. The difference was I had 5 dashes >_> so I was able to play smart and avoid attacks. I was always hit by his circular slash attack with 2 dashes. Couldn't time it right before, but I could avoid and play smart, use my blade rift special along with him getting zapped by the bloodstones and what not. Just played more defensively and avoided him.

Curious how my next run will go with higher difficulty lol

I don't understand how many do so much damage with the Gun's aspect that lets you do more damage when you absorb the Special. Like, I was watching someone speed run the game with it and they were doing massive damage out the gate, way more than I can do with it maxed out.

Eris Aspect is insane for damage. I couldn't believe it affected more than just your basic shot, so stuff like the chain lightning from Zeus' Attack Boon, Hangover, and each of your attack/special/cast gets a boost. The bomb itself is a great source of damage too if you can get the triple bomb and/or missile hammer. My best time(17~ min) in the game right now is with the Rail using Eris.

I've had 6 sub 16 runs and keep getting screwed out of sub 15 by bad Satyr Sack RNG every single time.

Is there some sort of way to manipulate the sack(giggle) to have it show up after a specific amount of rooms or do I just need to pray harder to RNGjesus?

Its all RNG unfortunately

the only manipulation possible is by exploiting the fact that the first room you choose will never have the satyr sack, so if you want to ensure you get that reward for your run before getting the possible sack/fountain heal for any future room choices

like for example I once used my first choice on a Dionysus boon so that I could ensure I get strong drink before finding the sack/fountain, for a full heal before the boss fight

or even just to make sure you get the extra coin room or centaur heart before getting the sack/heal, etc

Not sure, but it's only a small waste of time if you're at full health and don't have Dionysus' fountain boon. I guess it's so you don't miss a free heal when you're not paying attention, which is possible to do in Dead Cells if you don't refill your health/flask in BSC 0(I saw a friend do this like a second after I told him he skipped it lmao). You're also forced to pick up the boss-specific rewards(Blood/Diamond/Ambrosia) even if you don't want/need them.

It could also be so you don't waste money buying a healing item from the well since iirc you have to use the fountain before that. Also, it's a complete waste of time when you have the no healing pact maxed out, because then Stubborn Defiance and Centaur Heart/Souls are the only ways to restore or increase health I think.

What are you clears looking like right now? I'm in the middle of a run or else I would post my screen cap. Currently doing a 10 Heat Bow run, with the aspect that homes in on the target you attacked. Still need one more Hammer upgrade to finish the Bow stuff.

I had just started a new run the last time I played, but I can check again later today probably. I'm not sure I'll ever want to do another heat level 32 run, but all my weapon bounties need like heat 13 or 14 at the minimum. I've finished upgrading all the aspects I use, and some of the hidden one's I'm not a fan of. Since I maxed out every NPC I can just trade off all my Ambrosia for Titan Blood now.
